Brevard hotel worker attacked; man hunted

 

FLORIDA TODAY CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Brevard County sheriff's deputies today are searching for a man who attacked a beachside hotel worker.

 

A housekeeper reported an attempted sexual assault shortly before noon on Wednesday at the Radisson Resort and Conference Center, 8701 Astronaut Boulevard.

 

Investigators said the woman was making cleaning rounds in the 200 building of the hotel.

 

She was cleaning when a man walked in the room, took out a knife and threatened her, said Agent Michael Spadafora of the Brevard Sheriffs Office.

 

The man was described as being in his late 20s, about 5-foot-6 inches tall, 160 pounds with blue eyes and a blond mustache.

 

He was also wearing a red T-shirt and a red baseball cap with a gold emblem.

 

Victim knocks knife from attacker's hand

 

The victim was able to knock the knife from her attacker’s hand causing the suspect to flee on foot, agents said.

 

Sheriff’s deputies searched the entire resort complex and convention center on foot.

 

Bloodhounds responded and tracked the suspect south to the area of Thurm Boulevard before the trail went cold.

 

The Sheriff’s helicopter performed an aerial search for the suspect in the area surrounding the hotel but was unable to locate him.
