4xcruise Posted December 18, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Hi cruises, Anyone knows how triple cabin "works" i.e. for a family with one 18 year old? Are there limited availability of these cabins or do they just roll in an extra bed in the larger cabins? Any other info wellcome. MANY THANKS. 4xcruise

paul929207 Posted December 18, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Only some cabins can accomodate a third passenger. Check the deck plans for the ship(s) you are considering.
Pam in CA Posted December 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2010 It's a bunk bed that is set up at night by your cabin steward and put away in the morning. Unless you get a mini-suite, in which case, there is a couch that pulls out into a bed. With the mini, there's more storage space and a larger bathroom. sunsetbeachgal Posted December 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2010 And, correct me if I am wrong please, I am pretty sure that if you are in a standard sized cabin and you utilize the third bed (which comes down from the celiilng) you can not have the cabin steward push the two lower beds together to make a King size bed, due to safety issues. paul929207 Posted December 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 18, 2010 That is my understanding.
Cruisers from WA Posted December 18, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 18, 2010 If you get a mini cabin, although it will be more sq feet, the sofa bed is small....I had to sleep side ways in it and I am only 5' 1.5"...it is too short for me...I think it is intended for small child
katisdale Posted December 18, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Two cruise sized beds (they are not standard twins) pushed together make a queen not a king sized bed. Your steward will put the beds together if you push for it BUT you probably won't like it. If the third person gets up during the night or comes in late they will need access to their bed and the ladder will be at the end of the pushed together bed meaning you will be constantly jostled/awakened. The ladder at the end of the bed also makes it harder to get up from the queen.
Marlenascruising Posted December 18, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2010 Me, DH & DS have sailed on Princess 3 times (4th this Spring) and always get an aft balcony reg cabin. The lower beds are always pushed together; we have never had a problem with it & the large balcony is great for storing shoes, towels and beach stuff. Cruisin' Chick Posted December 19, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2010 Hi cruises, Anyone knows how triple cabin "works" i.e. for a family with one 18 year old? MANY THANKS. 4xcruise You can't book a cabin meant for two passengers if you have three or more in your party. Look at the deck plans for the ship you're considering and you'll see a symbol (like a red dot) for cabins that can accommodate extra persons. Many of these cabins (such as the insides) have the bunk beds mentioned above. I'm not sure about weight limits, but my hubby took one of the bunks when my daughter was pretty small (even though there's a rail).
6pack Posted December 19, 2010 #11 Share Posted December 19, 2010 We have always been extremely happy with a mini suite for the 3 of us. Lots of room and the 3rd person gets a good discounted rate
