Conquest questions

Recommended Posts

1. We are doing a B2B (Jan 30 and Feb 6) and have YTDining. Which dining room is used for this?

2. I upgraded from #9248 (inside) on the Lido to #2478 on Main (to get an Ocean View). Would you have gone 7 levels down to get an Ocean View? It was only a total of $70 to upgrade.

3. Our roll call doesn't seem to be very active but just in case, where would be a good area to have an informal meet and greet?

4. In the activities that have free drinks (Past Guest and Farewell) will they bring us a Coke instead of a cocktail?

5. Where are the laundries on the Conquest?

6. Does each level have an ice machine in case we run out of ice?

7. There is an old thread of "Conquest Only" questions and I have referred to it several times but it's no longer active. Is it acceptable to begin a Conquest Only thread and if so--how would I go about doing it?

Thanks for your expert help--I appreciate it!

As far as starting a new conquest only thread, just post to the end of the thread going, and it will bounce back to the top. Most threads dont stay on the first pages very long. If you decide to start a new one, yours will probably be ingnored and the much longer one bumped up later on .. so I would just post to the one already going.

As far as getting a coke during the parties, maybe if you tip really well .. and the farewell party is in the back lounge, they might bring you one.. but generally the only virgin drink offered is punch.

There are ice machines, but most people dont go in there and get their own ice, they tip the cabin steward extra or ask for it and your cabin steward will get you more ice if you keep running out. Usually they fill the ice buckets once a day at night in my experience.

I personally would not have paid $70 pp more to move to a OV on a lower deck, but thats me. I would have booked a PT cabin for a inside price though if I wanted to see out. OVs are 220 s.f. so they are larger than insides, is the biggest advantage to me.

The anytime dining is in the middle dining room. The back is only traditional and probably part of the middle dining room.

There is a laundry on deck 2 a little aft of mid-ship, starboard side. $3 wash, $3 dry, there is an iron and ironing board. I got my quarters from a change machine in the casino.

I really like OV and I do think it's worth the extra $$ for the bigger cabin and the window. And I really like Conquest in general. Happy cruising!

Hey WendyJo,

Congrats on the B2B, you'll love it. Just when the itinerary is over your still have another week. If you choose to do self-service laundry, you might do it on the "turn over" day; when the 'old' passengers debark-since no one else will be in there. IMHO the Lido deck is too lively for me, lotsa of running around, doors banging, etc. You have an aft cabin with #2478, which will absolutely rock you to sleep like a baby. If a window is important to you, the price you paid is nothing, esp for two weeks. Frankly, I use the part of the window 'seat' as another shelf to sit or store my stuff. Generally the lower the cabin deck, the less motion you will feel; however, you may hear 'ship noises'. In your case you might hear some engine related noise; at the front of the ship you are more likely to hear anchoring noises.

The ship sponsored parties (rep and capt)-I have never had a problem getting anything extra-just ask nicely. I do try to tip when they deliver. (I take 100 $1s with me on the cruise to make this task easier).

I sail on the Conquest in Jan and our roll call is the quietest I have ever experienced. Guess it is due to the time of year, everyone out shopping maybe?

Each deck with passenger cabins has a pantry, but this is just for the crew to service cabins. Just call room service for all the ice you need. Again the $1s are handy at this point.

For no added charge here are a few other websites you may find useful:

cruisedeckplans dot com

cruisediva dot com - emailed the author and she ACTUALLY responded, and nice too! very good packing and planning info

Merry Christmas and happy cruisin' to all!

I loved Lido for the opposite reason .. how few cabins are on Lido and its so quiet. On the bottom two decks you have so many children, and with so many long hallways, it seems to me to encourage children to run up and down the hallways.

The capt's party is no more, you get $1 off drinks on the promenade usually .. it was replace Im thinking over a year ago with the farewell party, the last sea day at 5 pm. So now its the farewell party that is the 2nd party with free drinks that is usually in a back lounge and poorly advertised, so its easier to get a coke or a different drink.

Usually they fill the ice buckets once a day at night in my experience. I've been on several cruises but I guess I need to get out of my "self-sufficient" mode onboard a cruise.

OVs are 220 s.f. so they are larger than insides, is the biggest advantage to me. It was actually $35 pp (total of $70). I guess time will tell if my impulse decision was good or bad but since I knew our stateroom on cruise #2 (B2B) had a balcony, I was kinda bummed that cruise #1 had no OV

Okey, dokey Firefly--sure do appreciate all the help!

Im self sufficient too, but dont get the idea they want us to help ourselves to the ice in the steward's rooms.

If I really needed ice right now .. Id take the aft elevator up to the buffet and get several glasses of ice and take them to my cabin to use right then.

cabin steward should fill your ice twice a day. Cabin stewards are off between the hours of 12 - 5pm. If you need ice during that time-- call room service.

I couldnt set the wake up call on Triumph last Monday .. and the purser's desk transferred me to room service to set it. They did!!

Regarding bringing the coke during the parties, I've had luck ordering my favorite drinks (no tip required). They do have to make a special effort to get it. Put they normally bring it on their next trip out of the bar area.

Enjoy.

Thanks, happy cruzer--I'll try that!

You can bring on coke when you board .. and bring one with you to the party. My sister loves her coke zero too.

I was with someone last week who carried on diet coke and brought them to dinner every night. They asked if she wanted ice, she said no thanks, the waiters didnt mind, they had all they could do filling water and tea.

Since our cabin on cruise #1 is on Deck 2, doing laundry will be easy peasy for that week.

I noticed you have an icon that a power strip is forbidden. I had heard that but did Carnival publish this information or have y'all found out by experience? If you have a link--I'd love to see it. Thanks!

Thanks firefly--it's great to know of cruisedeckplans--I'm going to bookmark it. I normally wouldn't do any laundry for a 7 day cruise but I'd have to bring too much clothing to go 2 weeks without it.

thats the advantage of being platinum .. you get free wash and fold and they do your laundry. .. if you keep doing B2Bs, you will be there in no time flat.

Yes, that's the plan! We'll have 4 carnival cruises down soon and 6 to go (unless they change the parameters to total sea days)
