almostavirgin Posted December 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2010 I brought beef jerky and candies, but it turned out there's food in a lot of places most of the times.
janabm81 Posted December 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2010 Duct Tape, highlighters, sea sick pills (& I hope to never need to use them), flashlight, over the door shoe thingy.
travlnblueberries Posted December 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 29, 2010 I would have to say the power strip. We were able to get by without plugging it in. We have used it in the past, but I think we could get by without it from now on.
cb at sea Posted December 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2010 I agree with the power strip....almost everything can be plugged and unplugged...no need to keep everything attached to the power supply all the time! "Wraps" for formal night.....I've always lugged them and never needed them. They're a pain in the a** to carry around, anyway!
piemom9397 Posted December 30, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2010 The over-the-door shoe thing. There was always enough room for everything.

Caribbean Sunsets Posted January 3, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Another vote for the plug strip. I've brought one in the past but forgot it on my last cruise. I didn't even need it. One less thing to pack for me!:)

MissKathy107 Posted January 9, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 9, 2011 High heels are a necessity when it comes to my night's out; but on a cruise, all you need are your two feet to have fun... ok... Maybe some sandals in lieu :D

Marian Paroo Posted February 24, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Terrific thread, thanks. Will be clearing a few items from my pre-cruise basket tonight!
Happy ks Posted March 2, 2011 #16 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Let's see if I can remember all the things I purchased for our first cruise and never used: water wallet, more than one disposable underwater camera, over the door shoe holder, water shoes (X's 4), address book for postcards (never sent them :o), travel journal (now I use a small notepad), extra bag for packing souvenirs, cooler for the beach, thermal coffee mugs, post it notes, highlighter pen. A lot of this stuff is used by some people, I just found all the above to be unnecessary for us. There's more but it's been since 1998 and I don't recall it all. The most costly items were all the new clothes I bought for the whole family. I really thought cruising was a luxury vacation and people would be more dressed up than they were. That was an expensive lesson learned, now I just pack from the clothing I already have.
Curtzilla Posted March 3, 2011 #17 Share Posted March 3, 2011 I usually bring my morals and inhibitions aboard but often don't use them.
youngestof9 Posted March 3, 2011 #18 Share Posted March 3, 2011 I usually bring my morals and inhibitions aboard but often don't use them. ROFL!!!! I never used my power strip. Thankfully didn't use any over the counter meds (bonine, pepto, etc.) except Advil for too much rum ;)
SeaTeach Posted March 3, 2011 #19 Share Posted March 3, 2011 Duct tape, travel size toilet paper, bug spray, and power strip. I'll probably continue to take that stuff, since there was a time when I needed them but didn't have them.
Marian Paroo Posted March 3, 2011 #20 Share Posted March 3, 2011 So what is this thing about Duct Tape? I've even asked a friend in the USA to sent me a role of bright pink Duck brand Duck tape from the USA, as all we have here is dull grey stuff. carebear71 Posted March 11, 2011 #21 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Yeah, why does everyone say to bring Duct Tape? Why do you possibly need duct tape on a cruise?
Marian Paroo Posted March 11, 2011 #22 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Yeah, why does everyone say to bring Duct Tape? Why do you possibly need duct tape on a cruise? I think emergency repairs. Well, anyway, I'm taking a roll. It isn't that big an item, but I've had to ask a friend to send me a roll of Duck brand in shocking pink from the States. Here all you can get is plumber's silver or black. donaldsc Posted March 11, 2011 #23 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Virtually anything and everything that is on all the "do not forget to take" lists. The lists are all very useless. DON
timeforadaiquiri Posted March 11, 2011 #24 Share Posted March 11, 2011 When I sailed with RC I used some duct tape to keep the balcony door open.
WedNoMor Posted March 13, 2011 #25 Share Posted March 13, 2011 BOOKS...!! Seeing how sooooo many people bring duplicate items and others are sorry for something that they've forgotten... I think the ship should have a Post Board: If you are in need of _______ then Cabin #_____ will share...! :)
