Dining Questions for Galveston Cruisers

We will be in Galveston on Jan 21 for a couple of nights before our cruise on the Voyager on the 23rd. Would like to have some information on dining. We are looking for some good seafood. Where would be the best place, maybe seaside. Had heard about Guidos ? but someone said it was not as good as it used to be. Any suggestions would be appreicated.

There are a number of places along the seawall, both chain (Joe's Crab Shack, Landry's, etc.) and local depending on what your looking for, some fancier than others, some you get more for your money, in my limited experience I would call excellent, but none I would call bad either, even the chains there seem better than some of their other locations, may just be the view though. I do live in south Louisiana, so my seafood standards be kind of high.

My vote is with Gaido's...love their shrimp bisque! It's been a favorite for 30+ years for us. There are many places to get seafood in Galveston and many of them are chains owned by Landry's. I don't know where you are staying, but even if you don't have a concierge, ask some of the locals at your hotel where they recommend.

We also like Gaidos...Caseys is also good...its at the same location...same owners..just a little less fancy ( so also less $$$ ). I had really good shrimp there last year. I liked one of their salad dressings so much, that I had to stop in on our way out of town after the cruise and buy some to take home. If you find yourselves downtown around lunch , try the Star Drug Store...you wont be dissapointed!! The Spot ( on seawall blvd ) is also good..good burgers and more!! We love cruising out of Galveston and usually spend at least 2 extra nights so we can see the sights and of course eat!!

You must try Miller's Landing. It is on Seawall Blvd. I think it is in front of or close to the Holiday Inn Spree. It is a small place but you get lots of good seafood and their prices are very reasonable. That is now the only place we eat when we go down for our cruises. We have never been disappointed, nor have other people we have sent there. We are cruising on Voyager on 1/16.
