b-survivor Posted January 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Do rum runners really work? I went on a Carnival cruise on the Victory out of San Juan 2 years ago and we were able to purchase liquor right there at the port and take it on the ship without any problems. I've been reading some of the forums and it seems that things may have changed. Can anyone who has recently been on this cruise shed some light on this because I am cruising the Victory again on March 13th. Need to know if I should use rum runners? Thanks! 6rugrats Posted January 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2011 No, you shouldn't. Just buy drinks on board. Did that convince you :)? There is a "search" feature on this board. There are probably hundreds of threads discussing rum runners in great detail. Try pulling some up and you'll probably find everything you wanted to know about them. Here's just one you may find interesting: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1318085&highlight=rum+runners
PennyAgain Posted January 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2011 The cruise lines have gotten wise to Rum Runners. If they are taken out of your luggage during the search process you loose both the RR's and the booze inside of them. They are discarded and will not be returned to you at the end of your voyage. I've had success with the smallest RR's in other travel situations but they are hardly worth the bother for a cruise.
