Renting a car at POM?

We want to rent a car and drive to Key West as soon as we disembark on 1/22. What car rental options would be open to us at the port?

None! :( There are NO car rental facilities at POM.

 

Hertz, Avis and Enterprise have downtown Miami locations close to POM - if they will not pick you up then it is only a $10 cab ride. Alamo and maybe others have a shuttle to the car rental facility at MIA -- if you don't want to wait for the shuttle it is a 15 minute $24+tip cab ride to the airport. Good luck! :)

Thanks--that's what I figured. I searched for a car on Priceline and almost every company shows a rental facility at about 4 miles away--I am assuming that would be downtown--I think I remember that the airport is farther than that. So the next question is, will it be relatively easy to get a cab at disembarkation?

Cabs are easy - a big line just waiting to take you where you want. :D It is a flat rate of $24 + tip to MIA; that rate may not apply if you go straight to the rental car facility located near MIA, but the meter fare should be pretty close to $24-26. Alamo runs a shuttle to their MIA facility, but I'm not sure of the frequency. Good luck! :)
