Cherrytrees Posted January 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2011 Do you know if at all possible RC let passengers know in advance which evening is 'formal' 'smart casual' etc., I would like to organise my dresses so the tight fitting ones are worn earlier on in the cruise. I know it a woman's thing, I don't want to be brusting out all over the place :)
starlake Posted January 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2011 On most ships the first formal night is the second night of the cruise and the last is the next to last night. If you are on a longer cruise, it can be anywhere in betweeb. On many Royal cruises, there really is no smart casual, it is listed on the Royal website, but doesn't appear on the ship. Hope this helps a bit.

cruiseguy1016 Posted January 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2011 If you tell us the ship and itinerary, someone here will be able to tell you for sure what nights are the formal nights.
jackretired Posted January 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2011 Formal nights are up to the captain with input from the CD & HM, but normally stay the same for a given ship & itinerary. Starlake was right on target. Weather/seas or a change of itinerary could change when formal night is held.

cb at sea Posted January 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2011 The first formal night is ALWAYS night 2...always! Pack your loosest formal dress for the 2nd formal night....! I understand!
MMCK Posted January 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2011 this is hilarious. :D I have the same dilemma. Slimfitting dress - fits me well now, but on a 9 day cruise by the end.. I do not want to be the subject of one of those CC posts re: illfitting dresses on formal night! I will keep the looser ones that hide a multitude of sins for the end of the cruise. ;)
