disembark at ports

We are very excited to be doing our very first Princess cruise. (Platinum on RCCL). Departing on the Ruby on 6/9/11 for the Med. Trip of a lifetime...we are now arranging our excursions, and will be doing them privately.

How does Princess handle the disembarking at ports? Looks like we arrive at 7 AM on many, and would like to get going asap to have a full day on this wonderful itinerary.....

Thanks in advance for your replies!:)

When the ship has been cleared, the staff makes an announcement. Many times the early birds form a line at the stairs, but it is gone relatively quickly if tendering is not involved. We have learned to just wait about 10 minutes after the anouncment and stroll right off. If you are setting up private tours, I would suggest setting the time for an hour after docking time, just to allow for delays.
