Nautica in Bangkok Feb 15th

Does anyone know which port the ship will dock in start of the Cruise Bangkok to Beijing (Feb 15th)? Is is the central Klong Toey or the far flung Laem Chabang? We are travelling independently to the ship.

Also, has anyone experience of Oceania getting transit visas for Vietnam. Do they do this for all citizens who wish it? We are UK citizens.

Hi Riccardo,

Yes, VTBobby is right---it is Klong Toey in Berth 22. The berth might change but it is definitely Klong Toey. It is even on our docs which arrived last week.

I would suggest you call or email Oceania to find out about the UK visas for Vietnam. Or you can ask your travel agent to find out for you.

See you on board,

Billie

Hi Riccardo,

We did this cruise last March, and had quite a problem getting from the airport to the ship (we did not have transfers as we arranged the air ourselves). Neither the taxi dispacher nor the cab driver had any idea where the port was! After almost an hour in the taxi driving around Bangkok at midnight, the driver, who spoke no English, finally stopped at a hotel with internet service where they googled the address of the port which, luckily, we had written down. Quite an eventful and stressful way to begin our cruise, which, btw, we loved. Have a wonderful time! Sandy

We have same issue in Australia with Visas and American Registered Cruise Lines.

We received Oceania's documentation letter saying they will have on-board transit visas processed and charge the visa cost to our cabin when we arrive in Vietnam. However, when you get to the last paragraph it then says if you are not a USA or Candian Citizen contact the country's consulate in your country and identify with them what is required.

We had already done that and have already had our visa documents go to our Vietnam Consulate in Sydney and we will have visas back in 4 days.

As we ex-British I would think you guys would need to do the same with their consulate in London. Visa form on their internet site.

This issue occurs for us all the time as we normally only sail Regent and being American based we have to do our own visa processing where required. No big issue.

Better to be safe than sorry and it maybe cheaper anyway

I have now sent this email to Oceania :

We are on Nautica Cruise Exquisite Empires and will be getting our own

China visas. We have a notice from you saying Vietnam Transit Visas can

be processed on board.

Can you confirm that this is OK for UK citizens and can you tell me the

price in US$ per passenger for this, please?

And their reply:

Mr. & Mrs. xxx,

Thank you for your email.

The Vietnam Visa can be purchase onboard for $49.00 USD per person.

All the Best,

Hi

We were on the Nautica Hong- Kong to Athens in 2010 and the ship provided Vietnam visas at 49usd.

Enjoy your trip.

Riccardo,

I think maybe you should. I haven't been lied to by O personnel.

On the other hand, if I were in your position ... I might well want reassurance as well!

But just remember --prices can change!

I know that statement will make you feel much more comfortable ... LOL.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

(For the record, we haven't done this itinerary ourselves. Ren bellied up just before we were going to do it 9 years ago ...)
