LIIT defintiely are a great choice for high alochol content, but like others have said, if made improperly they can taste pretty bad.

We made "friends" with a bartender on our last cruise too - Our rum and cokes were rum...more rum... more rum... finished the bottle, more rum... and a drop of coke ;) $1 cash extra tip per drink goes a long way on keeping you liquored up!

You can do it all as one drink or 4 different shots (typically this way). It's Jim Bean, Jack Daniel's, Johnny Walker, and Jameson.

Ahh I had something similar though not on Carnival but it was called 3 wisemen and it was Jim, Jack and Johnny. 2 of those and i was a goner!! lol :p

I agree about the LIIT, but we usually go to the same bar/bartender right from the beginning and give the bartender a very good cash tip right up front(last time was 60) and got awesomely strong drinks and quite a few never made it to our card. Needless to say before we could even sit down our drinks were there. Near the end of our trip we gave him another great tip and didn't get charged for anything other than coke after that

I always drink cosmos's love them! I ordered one with dinner on my Liberty cruise and WOW was that a strong drink! Seriously pure liquor! But tasty!

I liked the fruit ones (DOD) and they had plenty of liquor in them!

My Favorite when I drank

1/2 oz

gin

1/2 oz light rum

1/2 oz vodka

1/2 oz peach schnapps

1/2 oz Blue Curacao liqueur

1/2 oz triple sec

1 can Red Bull® energy drink

Fill glass full of ice, then add all liquors and stir. Add full can of Red Bull. It will float and slowly seep down the glass, turning the mix green, hence the name Irish Trash Can!

I'll say the LIIT's pack quite a punch. I could never handle more than 4 in one night where as the drink of the day was hit or miss and could do 7-8 with no problems. I spend a fair amount of time in the casino too so when I get to trade my receipt for a $5 1:1 bet coupon, it's almost a no brainer for me. I will also suggest getting to know a bartender early in the cruise. I made friends with the one in the sports bar and my drinks from him were never lacking of liquor.

I was just wondering what is the strongest drink you can buy, that makes your dollar go far? I'm usually a Margarita kind of girl, but out of the last ten Margaritas I've had, only ONE of them was worth the money. The rest just tasted like over-sweetened lemonade. :(:o Even my 14-year-old dd (who had a TEENY TINY sip) couldn't taste anything other than the mix (and she thought it was too sweet). So I'm a bit shy about paying over $9 for a wear drink.

just get beer or wine or a martini. Martini all booze no extra calories needed with the mixers

That sounds heavenly but makes me think I wouldn't be able to have any dessert on those days! ;)

Good to know about the "tipping". I'm usually pretty generous so I'll just continue the "habit".

just curious what "generous" means. Please don't take offense I just moved from the east coast to the west coast and could not find a "generous" tipper here. I had to quit my job as a result

If you're not into the light liquors in an LIT, a drink I make over and over when I bartend is called a "monkey ****er". It has crown royal, southern comfort, amaretto, sweet and sour, splash of coke. Very tasty and less "tea" tasting. In my bar we charge the same for this as an LIT, but that may not be the case on a ship since this has many name brand liquors versus their cheap well brand.

Or order your LIT with grape juice instead of sweet and sour, makes it much more fruity!

We also had a rusty nail which was about $5 and that was a knock you on the butt type drink. It's really strong though because it's Scotch and Drambuie. :p

I ♥ those!!!! Make them at home all the time. 1 Scotch / 1/2 Drambuie, but you can put in more Drambuie if you like them sweeter.

Think that the drinks by the pool/DOD are on the weak side -- still fun, though -- who doesn't like an umbrella drink?

We always find a bar/bartender we can "bond" with, and then stick to that bar -- the drinks become amazing, and get better every time, especially with positive feedback, both verbal and $$!

As far as bang for the buck -- I favor a vodka martini.

Just back from Inspiration cruise -- the Cosmos made for me at the Atrium bar were DYNAMITE!!

In my pre-mom days those LIIT had me playing air guitar to ZZ Top in front of the whole bar :o...so be warned. Gosh, those were some fun times.

Just about spit my Diet Coke on the screen for that one!!! We had a little bar near my hometown when I was pre-dad and pre-responsible. We would have contests on who could drink the most and still taste the lemon on the bottom. The record was 2, and we had to have someone sober remember that!!! Bar was a trailer house with all the walls ripped out. The memories...

Thanks for making me think of some good times!!! :D
