Customs on a Canada New England Cruise?

Just wondering how customs is going to work on our upcomming Canada New England Cruise?

 

SHIP DEPARTS NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, US

AT SEA

SYDNEY, NOVA SCOTIA, CANADA

HALIFAX, CANADA

SAINT JOHN, BAY OF FUNDY, CANADA

PORTLAND, MAINE, US

AT SEA

SHIP ARRIVES AT NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, US

 

Will we go through Canadian customs in Sydney and US Customs in Portland? I am Canadian but can't see that making a difference??

We did the NYC to Canada/New England 4 years ago.

Boston _ cleared US immigrations, they put a mark on the cruise card

So you never had to clear Canadian customs at all or did you do that in NY when boarding the ship? Also why would you have to do immigration one day and customs the other?

The stop in Boston was the 1st US port since we left NYC, you clear immigration. You are not leaving the boat with stuff, so they just do immigration. In Halifax we got off the boat and had to show a photo ID
