Purchasing Liquor from Bon Voyage

If you purchase your liquor through Bon Voyage can you just carry around the bottle around the ship?

For example, if you wanted to use it with the lemonade on deck or to top off a frozen drink. Or should we put it in a flask or something?

Thanks!

no don't carry it around, most people get the drink then put the fun stuff in it in your room or I guess a flask is a good idea, maybe I will try that, good idea, it will save trips back to your cabin,

enjoy your cruise

sailorwife:)

Just out of curiousity, why couldn't I carry it around? I paid for it through Carnival, just the same as if I bought a beer/drink and I can carry that through out the ship.

I was more wondering what others did.

Well I guess what do you mean by 'carry it around?' Carry around a glass liter bottle of liquor up to the lido? Thats a poor as well as classless idea. A flask is absolutly fine. I have done that in the past. BV is great.

I'm not talking about wandering around the ship drinking from the bottle, I was more referring to bringing the bottle up to the lido to refill. Same as you would carry a bottle of wine to dinner....

We'll probably just do the flask idea, but I was just curious...

I don't think you would get in trouble, I just don't think it's a great idea. I can't remember if they tell you you have to keep the bottle in your room or not, they may. Obviously they don't want glass bottles of any kind on the Lido. You could sit by the pool in your bathrob with your bottle of rum, eating potato salad with your hands, but you shouldn't:).

I don't know what the rules are, but I do know that some folks had a bottle of tequila with them in the casino bar one night & were sharing & drinking out of it when security came over, told them they could not have a bottle of alcohol there & escorted one of them back to their cabin with the bottle to ensure they took it back to their room. So it seems like you cannot walk around with open bottles of alcohol based on this observation.

I have a 5 oz flask that fits into my pocket. I also bring an insulated mug with me. That is so much easier to carry around than holding onto a bottle. It also saves from going back to the room every 15 mins. to refill.

I don't know why it would be classless but to each their own . I just leave the bottle in my cabin and when I need a drink, I run down and make one - we also bring larger (24 oz) sport water bottles for drinks when I am a bum laying by the pool for a long time.

To me, a glass container on Lido is not a good idea.

It's really for friends to buy your so it's in your room when you check in with the card. So write yourself a nice card......................

On our last cruise on the Splendor one of our group had a small plastic "flask" of liquor from his Bon Voyage order. We were in the Cigar Bar and one of the waiters saw him with it out and told him that he had to take it back to his cabin. He was nice about it. But it sounds like they want you to consume the prodcut in your cabin.

Now with that being said, I ALWAYS carry a flask around with me and make my own drinks buy using my soda card. But I try to be discrete about it. I will go into the ladies room or try to keep it hidden some while I am mixing my drink. I have never had anything said to me. I think if you are flaunting it, eventually something will be said to you.

Another tip - I always ask for my soda's in the smaller glasses (the type that they use for mixed drinks). You don't have to use as much alcohol to mix with the soda and the drinks don't get watered down as quick as they do with the bigger glasses.

When we ordered 4 bottles of booze for our cabin, we made no secret about the fact that it was for our consumption, not as a gift. She didn't care. In fact, I just called a moment ago to order one as a gift, and she automatically assumed that it was for us.

(Now lest you all think that BankerBabe is a lush . . . there are 12 of us sailing and the four bottles for our cabin are so that when we are hanging out on our aft wrap balcony we can mix some drinks. I will not be drinking all four bottles by myself.)

As to the "carry the bottle or flask it" conversation I would say either flask it, or put it in a water bottle if it's a clear liquor like vodka. Don't be obvious about filling your drink, at least walk away from the bar with your "virgin" drink before you augment it.

We have smuggled bottles of vodka into Las Vegas pools (yes, we're bad) via the water bottle method. We just order lemonades and then add vodka to it as we go. We're discreet and have never had a problem. Word of advice, though: Just because you are able to smuggle in an entire water bottle of vodka each doesn't mean that you have to consume the entire thing in one afternoon. It really puts a damper on your night time activities when you have to sleep it off.

Well, when I did my back to back on the 2nd leg I had the crown royal I bought on the first leg to drink (No kids on the 2nd cruise). Well, I just filled a carnival tumbler with it, then used my coke card to fill the 2nd one and mixed that way. Just had to be careful which tumbler I was drinking out of. :)

I wouldn't carry around a bottle though. You risk breaking it on the lido deck, and it certainly would look classless.

On our dec.12 to 19 cruise on the Glory had two bottles of rum about each half full. Sat night Took them out to the aft pool area on deck 9 and ask if anyone would like to help empty them. Was surprise on how many bottles pop up:rolleyes::D and how many when to the bar for cokes and other mixes. Had a great last night for this cruise:).

Great idea! We normally have some left-over and have just leave it in the cabin. I pack the large insulated mugs for drinks...

Thanks for all the replies. As far as those thinking it's classless, well I paid for it and as long as I'm not walking around swigging from it...whatever, to each is their own...I've seen a lot of tacky/disgusting things on the lido deck. It makes more sense not to bring around the glass bottle in case of it breaking.

We'll just bring a flask or pre make them with the pop we are bringing on board. Thanks!

Remember to bring your soda. One year, I thought I would just purchase it at a gas station or grocery store in port, but didn't think about the hurricane that had happened and that nothing would be open. At $2.50 a can, a twelve pack is pretty darn expensive on-board:eek:
