Jo and Rob Posted January 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Mum and Dad are stopping at Elba on a Sunday in April. Advice please. They will have visited Rome the previous day so will want something very leisurely. Is there a P&O shuttle bus into the nearest town? What is there to see? Is there a nice promenade they can walk along? Is there a HOHO bus? many thanks
jeanlyon Posted January 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 18, 2011 Why not use this very site to look up ports of call. Here is Elba - should give you some ideas. http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/ports/newport.cfm?ID=
C at Sea Posted January 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 18, 2011 It was about 14 years ago when we went there but we did the P&O trip around the island, visiting Napolean's house of imprisonment. Elba was lovely and very interesting. Hope they have a good time. It would be interesting to see what its like now.
southwinds Posted January 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2011 |Napoleon's house is the highlight and worth a visit we did the walking tour with a guide to get the full value of it but you could walk to it your self and see around it... southwinds Posted January 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Not bus we came ashore in the little harbour town.. its a very small old town quaint enough to walk around. Those who did a tour away from the town said it was a waste of time as the town was the best bit of the island.. It is a small place .
