Lewing Posted January 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2011 We have a 21 day caribbean cruise on Aurora in April our first cruise on Aurora. Just wondered which restaurants were best for breakfasts as we are not early risers.? Also if you have your evening meal at another restaurant apart from your designated one, do you have to tell them in advance you wont be eating with them that night? Is there somewhere that you can get lighter meals like salads either lunchtime or dinner? Our boarding time is 1.00pm so what is the earliest time we could arrive to board - we are parking at Southampton. Any advice would be very welcomed Many thanks Linda
BrianI Posted January 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 20, 2011 The choice for breakfast is the Medina restaurant (8-9:30 sea days, 7:30-9 port days), The Orangery self service(open all day) or Cafe Bordeaux open 24hrs although it a MPW pay restaurant from 6pm-11pm. You can get light lunches in any of the above or dinner, caesar salad is always available. It is common courtesy to let your waiters and table companions know if you are not dining any evening. Check normally opens at noon so you can check in any time after that. Make sure you book your parking in time if you have free parking. Merlin7 Posted January 20, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 20, 2011 BrianI is spot on. However, although Cafe Bordeaux is great for breakfast and lunch we found the food lacking in quality in the evenings, as an alternative dining venue, compared with Oriana and Arcadian Rhodes, (even Al Fresco on Orina),albeit that the supplement for Cafe B is much less. daiB Posted January 20, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 20, 2011 The Orangery is open for hot food right up until 12.00. This is different to other ships in the fleet. The last hour being brunch. Late breakfast is easier on Aurora than in other ships in the fleet. Gan canny Dai
Lewing Posted January 21, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Thank you for your replies - all very useful information. southwinds Posted January 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2011 We use Cafe B.. Or Cafe Rene as we call it.. they change the menu every three days so breakfast and lunchs change around.. there is also a lovely display of cakes and desserts which you can pop in and have one for afternoon tea if you perfer. They dont do full English for breakfast its a light option.. but with all the food you get on board .. we often find we are still full from dinner !!!!!!!!!!!!!! But they do also do room service breakfast which you order at bed time on a card and leave on your door handle... The Orangery is a bit busy but look for an out side table to avoid the crush !!! There is also a deck fast food place for lunch .. burgers etc... The Sidewalk Cafe...

Dont want to be one of the few that dress up lol Many thanks Linda

Black and White and tropical were very well followed.
BrianI Posted January 23, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 23, 2011 so if you go in Cafe B for breakfast or lunch is there no cover charge then just in the evening? Thanks Linda Yes, cover charge only from around 6pm to 11pm. After 11pm it is open for late night snacks and they serve very nice hot chocolate. Stays open all night. Brian
