Mindy43 Posted January 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 20, 2011 We plan to park in the Port Everglades Parking Garage for our upcoming cruise. There are however 6 large cruiseships in port with about 25,000 passengers boarding. My question is: has anyone ever encountered a problem with space available in the two garages? We have always parked there with no problem but do not recall of 6 large ships being in port when we were. Thanks for any info. Donna

There are however 6 large cruiseships in port with about 25,000 passengers boarding. Yeah, but... ....there are just as many people getting off those ships. I've been on 50+ cruises from Port Everglades, and have never had a problem parking in the garage. Although, they do have an overflow lot for the Northport garage, a little to the west, in the tank farm. The only time this might be a problem is when there is some big event, like the boat show, in the convention center.

Thanks Pablo222 -- I feel a little better knowing that in all those cruises you have never had a problem.
ssbeagle Posted January 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Sometimes you will leave from one pier and dock at another when you get back. If that happens there is a shuttle that will take you to the parking garage to pick up your car. It is a lot easier when the behemoth of the seas isn't in port at the same time. Talk about busy and crowded!!!!!
Cleocruiser Posted January 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2011 How much is it to park directly at the pier these days?
pablo222 Posted January 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2011 How much is it to park directly at the pier these days? USD 15 per day. Cash or Credit cards at exit. Eventually the port and the airports are supposed to also allow you to pay with "Sun Pass", which is a prepaid toll-thingie for your car. (thingie == rf transponder)
WendyVF Posted January 21, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2011 We cruised on one of their "record" days and had no problems getting into the garage. It was a tad hectic having DH drop us and luggage off. I was glad DH was driving as I would have been terrified with the taxis zipping in and out. Mrs.C05 Posted January 21, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2011 How do I find out how many other ships will be docking on the same day? Where do I find out if anything is going on that weekend? Just curious.

I saw somewhere on a Cruise Critic Board all of the ships listed for our date (2/6) and all six ships and a passenger count was given. Perhaps if you check back on the 2/6 board.
