Just wondering if US government advise's no travel to egypt but Uniwold insists on travel and offers no refund ; - then is Uniworld legally required to ensure our safety and ; --- if some thing would happen ; -- would this be a legal case agnaist Uniworld? letsgo39 Posted February 24, 2011 #128 Share Posted February 24, 2011 . I don't think any cruise company would take people to Egypt when there is a "no travel" warning by the US government. Why do you think Uniworld would "insist" on travel if there was a "no travel" warning in place? Uniworld has cancelled tours thru March 31. Do you have information other than that?
Wineart Posted February 24, 2011 #130 Share Posted February 24, 2011 Uniworld has posted that Egypt tours through March 31 are cancelled. For tours that were cancelled, you can either request a refund or switch to another Uniworld 2011 tour without penalty. Tours for April and May are not yet cancelled, but customers may switch to another Egypt departure date or any other Uniworld 2011 tour without penalty. I'm sure Uniworld is not going to resume tours until: 1. the tourist sites in Egypt reopen, 2. airline flights resume normal operations (for example, Delta flights to Cairo are totally cancelled until March 27) and 3. the political situation stabilizes. No tour company is ever going to "guarantee" your safety. No one, including Uniworld, has a crystal ball to predict the future stability in Egypt, so right now they have prudently cancelled everything until the end of March, and then they will keep reevaluating the situation. shoshona2 Posted May 22, 2011 #132 Share Posted May 22, 2011 Just saw on CNN that another demonstration is scheduled for next week in Cairo. The young people aren't happy with the military running the country. Lots of unrest and control of media to cover up all the arrests of innocent people. Hopefully, it won't turn out to be a bloody protest like Tinnaman Square in China years ago. Sheila

What happens after that?:mad: LandJB, It is my understanding that Uniworld does not operate in Egypt during the summer months (June-August). So by cancelling till the end of May, they essentially stopped operations until the beginning of September when they would have normally resumed anyway. We're booked in October and plan to go unless something significant happens closer to our departure date. Rob (Sandy's DH)

We were scheduled for September and cancelled due to the elections, and all the student unrest now. We decided there will always be another time when the country is more settled and all the looting has stopped. And a more peaceful Cairo returns.
