Taxi tour with stop at beach?

Has anyone recently taken a private taxi tour with a final stop at a beach before returning to the pier? If so, what did you pay and which beach did you go to? I am hoping to do this in late Feb. and hoping to be able to do it for no more than $50 pp for the two of us. Would love to try Brewer's Bay.

Yes, I did on 1/25/11. We took a "taxi/van" right outside of the pier. It was $20 pp. We did stop an over crowded beach...sorry I can't remember the name of it. We didnt get in the water because the driver only gave us 30 mins.

If I had to do it over again, I would catch a ferry to the Baths...which was what we were going to do originally but because of dangerous tide conditions, we didn't.

Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'm sure if we offer to pay more, we can get more beach time! We've done the Baths already.

I think he said that the rate to get back to the pier was $8 pp if we wanted to stay longer than the 30 minutes he waited for us. Taxis and vans were plentiful there btw.

  • 2 weeks later...

do a search for Speedys BVI on Yahoo or Google and if I remember correctly they do The Baths and Jost Van Dyke. It should be no more than $40ish per person. Not sure the exact price but have a look at it and see. We did the Baths in Nov. and it was one of the best excursion activities we have done.

We were there in late January. There were 3 ships in port that day. Our idea was to get a private tour of the island (maybe 2 hrs), then go to Brewers Beach. Well, we could get a tour in a bus with many people for $20/pp, but we wanted to go alone. We tried and tried, but no one was interested in taking us!!! We asked maybe a half-dozen taxi drivers if they would take us for $75, but none were interested. Finally, one agreed, but the tour was maybe an hour and he wanted to drop us off at Cane Garden Bay. The beach was more than crowded! You could not see one square foot of empty space! No thanks! We ended up going back to the ship and just walking around the town. Very disappointing.

The taxi drivers we asked were just sitting under the shade doing nothing. I would have thought they would want the work, but maybe they thought they could make alot more with groups of people. It seemed sort of strange. Lovely island though.
