dazcool Posted February 7, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2011 We want to take our own pack & play can we check it with our luggage? If so do you think it will make it undamaged?
6rugrats Posted February 7, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Check it where? On the plane or the ship? If on the plane, you should measure it; the dimensions may be too large for a checked item without paying oversized fees.
dazcool Posted February 7, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted February 7, 2011 On the ship.
nlt46 Posted February 7, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2011 They will let you check your pack and play on the ship. Just give the porters a tip like always, or you could carry it on if you so choose. We usually carry our stuff on just because we can. Katiebug430 Posted February 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2011 Sure you can! Our pack & play comes with a nice bag with a strap for carrying. Does yours? If so, just pack it up and slap a luggage tag on it like your suitcases. I would tip a buck or two more to the porter. We are bringing our own pack & play but we're driving to the port. DD is used to her pack & play and we don't want to use the crib provided by the cruise line.
dazcool Posted February 7, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted February 7, 2011 It is in a bag I'm just worried about it getting damaged. But don't want to carry it.
fdwt994 Posted February 25, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2011 I'm afraid I don't have the answer to your questions, but I was wondering, why take it? Is your child not comfortable sleeping in one the hotel & cruise line provide? Just curious, have a great cruise. :)
tkportersat Posted February 25, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2011 I was going to bring ours but I found the Pea Pod Travel bed instead and it folds up so compact...so bringing that instead. I have been having our son use it the next couple nights to get used to it before we leave. http://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5#
TakemeOnACruise Posted February 26, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Thanks tkportersat, I just ordered the Peapod Plus travel bed! Won't have to worry about using cruise line cribs or Pack * Plays and the peapod plus is good for kids upto the age of 6.
tkportersat Posted February 28, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 28, 2011 We have used ours at home the last few nights and he sleeps in it just fine!! It is so easy to fold up and it is so much lighter and compact than a pack and play. Have a nice trip :) Thanks tkportersat, I just ordered the Peapod Plus travel bed! Katiebug430 Posted February 28, 2011 #11 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Can the PeaPod Plus really be used safely for an infant? DD will be 10 months old when we cruise and is very used to a Pack & Play both at home and daycare, but we would be interested in the PeaPod Plus if it will take up less space in our cabin. azlefty Posted March 1, 2011 #12 Share Posted March 1, 2011 The cruise will give you a crib if you ask your steward.
tkportersat Posted March 1, 2011 #13 Share Posted March 1, 2011 It took up less room and it completely zips up like a tent, so he was unable to get out. We tested it over the weekend, so when he woke up he would either start to cry or talk to get us up :) Also, the mattress goes in a zip up pocket underneath, so no little wedges to get stuck in. Our little one seemed very comfortable in it, but I have realized my little guy will sleep wherever as sometimes when he is playing he will get tired and fall asleep on the carpet. We have never brought him to bed with us so he is independent in his sleeping. Guess it depends on the kiddo. PS - My son is 10 months old and pulls around and stands. He has only taken three shaky steps at this point. Can the PeaPod Plus really be used safely for an infant? tkportersat Posted March 1, 2011 #14 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Yes, with NCL we will have the Pack and Play in our room. We wanted the Pea pod for the pre-cruise hotel and nights that the grandparents will watch our son so we can go out as a couple on board. It is much easier to move from room to room than the pack and play would be. It also folds up very compact and is lightweight. The cruise will give you a crib if you ask your steward. tkportersat Posted March 1, 2011 #15 Share Posted March 1, 2011 PS - I would mention that anyone wanting a crib/pack and play in the room you should say so at booking due to availablity. NCL is providing a P&P and highchair. The cruise will give you a crib if you ask your steward.
