Private Tour / Taxi Tour

My wife and I would like a personalized tour, not a bus tour. The tour operators I see listed commonly on the boards charge more than we want to pay for 5 or 6 hours. I found taxisstmaarten.com which offers a taxi for the whole day for $250. That's better, but I wonder if anyone knows of other options or has had experience with a taxi driver who will give private, individualized tours for a reasonable price. We had great luck in Cozumel with a private driver recommended on these boards who carted us around all day and gave lots of great info for around $150.

My Girl friend and I will be Cruising on the Solstice Feb 27th we are also thinking of the taxi route. We've had great luck in Mexico and most recently Barbados...we had our driver for the day at our negotiated price of $100.00 who was estatic with the $30.00 tip. I highly recommend this mode of sightseeing.

I highly recommend Joyce Prince. She charges 40 pp for about 4 hours but if she is free, would probably be glad to negotiate for a longer tour. She is wonderful and knowledgeable and happy to customize your day. We used her in January while there for a land vacation.

Try Bernards Tours in St Maarten it is one of the most highly recommended tours on this board..We are doing a "private" day tour with him for $50.00pp for our family of 6..

We also recommend Joyce Prince for a more private tour. We went Jan. 2011, there were only 4 of us in her small SUV. She drove us around for about 4 hours for $40 pp. She is intelligent, informative, and interested in what you would like to see. Do your homework ahead and you will be especially pleased with the tour. She will customize the drive for shopping or whatever you wish. She will phone you to arrange the tour if you leave your number in an email.
