Should we chance it?

Looking for airfare into JAX.

Great deal flying in on Monday, the day we leave on our cruise.

Cruise leaves at 4pm, I imagine we have to be onboard by 2:30 - 3:00 pm.

Flight comes in at 11:30am.

Is it enough time to reach the port?

WWYD?

You would be well advised not to have a wild and uninformed guess about when you have to be checked-in for the cruise. First piece of advice: Go and look it up.

Then what I would do is to give some details about your travel.

  • Where are you flying from?
  • Which airline(s)?
  • How many connection(s) are you going to make?
  • Where are the connections?
  • Which date are you travelling on?

Those are the barest basic bits of information.

Here is what one website says:

If you are flying in to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) on the day of your cruise make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the ship. Carnival recommends arriving in to JAX by 2:30 PM at the latest on the day of embarkation.

Is this a non-stop or a connecting flight? If connecting, where are you connecting? What time of year is this trip?

What happens if the plane is delayed and you miss your connection? What if you connection is delayed? Did you purchase travel insurance?

How much are you saving? Is it really worth it?

To put it simply, if all your flights have no problems and you arrive at JAX on time you should be ok. The cruise port is only 10-15 minutes from the airport. From what I have heard most cruise lines require you to be on board 90 minutes prior to departure time as this is when they have to submit the passenger roster to the TSA and port authority to check against the terrorist watch lists. That rule may or may not be the same for all cruise lines so check with yours before hand. Good luck and have a great cruise.
