Owen's Nana Posted February 26, 2011 #26 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Did you rush directly to the Shore Excursion desk? I really want to do this tour, and I want to make sure I get a spot....I understand the openings are limited. What time did you board? We were on board by 1:00. Our plans were to go directly and book this tour. However, we were traveling with family and decided to eat first. Then we went to check out the room and then to explore the ship. I realized around 3:00 that we had not booked this and got a little worried. However, we had no problem at that time in getting a reservation. I guess it depends on how many other people are wanting to do it. We really enjoyed the tour. Hope you will too!
littlelion Posted February 26, 2011 #27 Share Posted February 26, 2011 How was the Behind The Scenes tour? I think my DH would really enjoy that! I have been on the tour on the Elation which is the Fantasy's identical sister ship. The tour is well worth your time and money. My DH did not go due to his limited ability to walk distances and there is a lot of walking along with some slightly steep stairs going down into and out of the engine room. We had one women on our tour that just stayed up with a guard while the rest of us went down. I wish they had told me that was allowed because I would have had him come. And yes I said a guard. The engine control room is very restricted, to the point that even many of the engine crew have never seen it. I would suggest not having kids under 12 attend. Carnival suggests it but one family was on our tour with kids 8 and 10 and they had a hard time listening and wanting to keep up. The youngest kept wanting to sit down on the floor every time we stopped. It does take the full 2 hours with only one short potty break only if needed. The only thing I did not see that I wanted to was a typical crew courters. But I have heard that is done sometimes if time allows and a crew member is willing. Fuzzy Buddy Posted March 6, 2011 Author #28 Share Posted March 6, 2011 Anyone know how I could get/view a copy of recent Fantasy Cappers? We are sailing May 9th with my hubby, daughter, son in law and 2 grandchildren age 9 and 15. We would like to start making plans on what to do and see. jjvest Posted March 8, 2011 #29 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Does anyone know if there is valet parking at the Charleston pier? I've sailed out of Charleston once, but was dropped off. This time we will be parking for the cruise. We'll be on the March 23rd sailing. Thanks for any help...
aobrien16 Posted March 12, 2011 #30 Share Posted March 12, 2011 How was your cruise? We will be on Fantasy in July. I am a little nervous (okay, a lot nervous) about all I have been reading about so much smoke in the public areas of this ship. I don't smoke, but I'm usually not freaked out about smoke (although I guess I not used to it in public places around here). But the things I have been reading about people having to leave certain lounges due to smoke is making me nervous. Just got home from a 6 night Fantasy Cruise..it was fantastic. I too was worried about the smoking but it was not so bad. No smoking allowed in the restaurants, but there is smoking in the casino, lounges and on the deck. Dont be nervous..have a great time! Did not notice if they had valet parking. We arrived at the port and followed the directions. We dropped off our luggage and parked in the indoor garage for $15 per day. A shuttle took us and our carry on's right to the terminal door. Same for debarking, shuttle took us and our luggage (they loaded it in the shuttle) right back to the parking garage. Have a great time
mek Posted March 13, 2011 #32 Share Posted March 13, 2011 We just returned this morning also - had a great time! I think Carnival did a great job on the refurb, especially around the pool, an area on Carnival ships I have always thought looked very plain. It now has a nice tropical resort feel. Food was good, entertainment was also good but one night there was nothing going on except the passenger talent show scheduled for 10:30 pm. They really need something else for that night. Lots of spring breakers - but we knew that going in, so no big surprises there. Parking was quick and easy - we were off the ship by 9am and in our car within 15 minutes. I agree about the entertainment, the only other cruise I was on was a Disney and there was always something going on. This one really was lacking in the entertainment. But again overall it was a great cruise and the "spring breakers" were not that bad :)
aobrien16 Posted March 13, 2011 #35 Share Posted March 13, 2011 We're sailing her in July for 6 nights. Just wondering, will there be just one elegant night or two? We just did a 6 night and had 2 elegant dinners. One on the 2nd night and one on the 5th night.
