Spa cost? Please help!!

Recommended Posts

Hey all! First time cruiser here!

I am anal about planning and when i called NCL to get a price list for the spa they couldn't find me one! So to all of you who have sail NCL lines or had any spa treatments, Please tell me about prices! lol

I kind of want a general idea of what to expect. Locally where I live a 60 minute massage is about $60 which i know is fairly cheap compared to other places... my boyfriend is under the impression that it will probably be the same price but I have a feeling the jack the price up on that too. I was guessing about 80-100?

I would love to hear about all spa costs you have encountered!!

Thanks! we sail THIS MONDAY!!

Hi!

From my memory, I found spa services to be not very costly and about the price you're saying maybe even less with special promotions. They have diff promotions everyday. The service was good, only thing is to come prepared because they will do a sales pitch which is boring. I kind of tricked the lady by politely telling her I would rather she stopped that and I would instead suggest her to my family members (which I did although I was sort of convinced they wouldn't want to go). I told her my mother in law and my husband might be interested, but I would rather she stopped [trying to convince me to buy things I didn't want/need]. They are really agressive about this, so it ends up beeing a bit of a torture, in this case she was trying to convince me to buy a (very special) brush for about 30 euros, which I know you will find at a specialised shop for at least half the price not to mention the supermarket for 3 euros. Kind of feels like they are treating you as dumb.

Anyway, you can also get a spa pass, I think it was 100 euros for the week and it will give access to an interior pool + sauna etc.. Of course treatments not included, but still it might be nice to have an alternative place to swim because the pools get really crowded (maybe not in this time of year though). For me this was not an option because we have children and of course they are not accepted at the spa pool. But if you are just in a couple, it's something to consider.

Treatments are not expensive, but it can be a torture (endless questionaires, lots of suggestions of things to buy, a lot of insistance, really, she only stopped once I very clearly told her "lets do it this way, if you stop I will instead recommend you to my mother in law and to my husband and they might be interested in coming"). My mother in law, however, is very faithfull to her own spa and will not fall in the hands of foreign people she doesnt know and my husband on the other hand is quite pragmatic and would just want to stay reading by the balcony or go to port, no interest in beeing massaged at the ship. So, I didn't get her any clients but I did try.

Good luck!

I too would like to see the cost of different treatments which I cannot find on the NCL website. Before any treatment I tell them up front I am not interested in any products. I would prefer to give a tip instead. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I haven't cruised on NCL, but found prices for spa treatments very similar between the lines I have cruised. An hour massage, if memory serves, being around $120 or so, unless it is a hot stones & that would be more expensive. I ussually wait for the specials, where you can pick 3 treatments for $99. So I never book a treatment in advance, I don't think I've ever inquired & had them tell me the spa appointments were all booked. Possibly for that day but never the whole cruise.

DW and I have had massages on the ship and in ports. The massages on ship were about $125 an hour. The ones in port have ranged from $13-$25 per hour. The masssages in port were much better also.

??? in the Far East? I have never seen those rates; closer to $50 - $60/hr.
