dincus Posted February 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2011 Are any cabins on deck 7 obstructed by life boats? Also are there larger balconies on the back of the ship on deck 7? The deck plans on their web site appear to show larger balconies. Thanks.
shipcat Posted February 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2011 There are no staterooms with obstructed view. On the Maiden Voyage we were in stateroom 7004 with an larger balcony.

DH wanted to upgrade to an A category, but I am sticking with the larger balcony. I need my space ;) Ronnie
hondorner Posted March 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 1, 2011 There are a few deeper balconies in the front of the ship and several in the rear, starting with 7108 on the Port side and 7111 on the Starboard side. There are a couple of penthouse cabins at the very aft end of deck 7; I think the aft-most wrap partially around the stern. The life boats are on Deck 6 outside the Grand Bar, the Casino and Martinis Lounge. They do not obstruct any guest cabins. However, they are also mounted 1uite low on the deck so they do not stick up above deck 7, and thus there are no side decks accessible to passengers like there are under the lifeboats on Deck 5 of the R ships. realent Posted March 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2011 Would you recommend the forward extended Balconies or the Aft? I am reserving 4 - B4 cabins and would appreciate some feedback.

The more forward cabins you will feel the motion a bit more if the seas are bumpy The Marina sails very smoothly We had 7114 aft section it was fine It is a personal preference, location location location Enjoy the space ;) Lyn
realent Posted March 28, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I agree and always prefer the aft. I was a bit worried about being over the dining room but I don't think there would be any problem with it being under you and I am sure the ship is well insulated.. Penthouses 7130 and 7135 at the rear of the ship have L shaped balconies which wrap around the stern of the ship, although the side and the aft section of those balconies are divided by a bulkhead with a door opening in it. The cabin itself is a shade smaller than the other Penthouses of its type, but the verandah is HUGE, if sparsely furnished. And the views aft are spectacular! JPR Posted July 25, 2011 #12 Share Posted July 25, 2011 We hate the view of the lifeboats from the Martini Bar. They would have been smart to put up period photographs or paintings over the windows. Really damages the atmosphere. One of the few flaws on the ship.

Your information was very helpful and the pictures told it all! Thanks very much for sharing. Where did you get the picture of the aft section of Marina? I searched the web extensively, which is relative of course, and couldn't find a more detailed picture than Oceania's deck plan.

I searched the web extensively, which is relative of course, and couldn't find a more detailed picture than Oceania's deck plan What I posted is an enlargement of a section of a photograph taken during Marinas' first Westbound transit of the Panama Canal in mid February of this year. The original was one of a series of six or eight photographs taken by the people who now run the Canal. I saved it because Stan and I were on the ship at the time, in an aft facing Oceania Suite on the Starboard side, and the photograph also showed that veranda, which was also right out of an MGM musical~

CintiPam Posted July 26, 2011 #18 Share Posted July 26, 2011 If it terminated in Istanbul rather than Athens, I would try twisting Gerry's arm a bit more. Frankly, two visits to Athens in the last three years is enough for awhile!:)
