We loved our Cove Balcony and will definitey do it again..

I agree! We had one in Dec. of last year & booked another for this Nov. Absolutely loved the privacy and the proximity to the water. I think we're cove converts-will be sad when the Dream moves to New Orleans and is too far to drive for a week's vacation.

Since we have only cruised on the Fascination, one of the many things I am excited about on the DREAM is the big screen !! :D

What can I expect to see on it ?? Movies ?? Concerts ??

Do they show the same movies that you can watch in the cabins ??

Is there a schedule in the Fun Times of what is being shown and what time ??

Thanks in advance .. :)

Hey guys, I'm travelling over from England in November for a few days in Orlando before joining the Dream and looking forward to it after reading this fantastic thread.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding transportation from Orlando (I-Drive) to the Port (and back, since I will be staying on in I-Drive after the cruise)?

I won't be driving so hiring a car is out. I'm a bit weary of the cheap-looking shuttles that seem to "guarantee" the world for about $40. I'm also a bit releuctant to pay the $300-$350 round-trip (for 2 pax) that the big taxi companies seem to want.......Seems I'm hard to please doesn't it !! :)

Anyone got any local knowledg that may by of use?

TIA guys.

unfortunately if you don't want to do a personal rental car then a shuttle or a taxi is probably your only options... now going back to I drive afterr the cruise someone in your roll call maybe lives in Orlando and you could see about catching a ride with them....but its not very close to the port

Check out the FLorida Departure threads. Lots of good info there. Cocoa Beach Shuttle is good.

Do they have Wine tastings on the Dream ?

Where do they hold the Martini tastings ?

Anyone know if they have Gluten free Pasta at the pasta bar ?

We are doing the 9 day cruise and dropping the dream off at New Orleans. Anyone know what the 9 day menus would be like ?

Thanks for the help

Sarah

Did not see gluten free pasta.

They did have the Martini tasting by the Taste bar.

I'm sure you could order the toppings and the sauce.

When we were on last September, the first sea day they have a Food/Wine Pairing in one of the dining rooms. You just need to sign up in advance for it, though I don't remember how much it was.

They also do Martini Tasting any time at Ocean's Plaza & Sam's Bar, you get to pick 4 mini ones. They are all pretty good;)

My hubby's an Englishman (living in America), too. He'll be glad to hear he won't be alone among all us American tourists. If you're sailing the same week as us, that is. We board Nov. 2. If so, I'm sure amongst the thousands of passengers, you'll somehow find each other and he'll try to talk cricket and football with you. We'll likely be in the casino bar for at least part of the trip watching whatever game might be on. If we're on the same week, come join us!

Hi TeamLincoln .... If your username is a clue to where your husband is from, then I'm not far away in "Robin Hood Country" - Nottingham.

It's a shame that I'm gonna miss you because I'm travelling on the 16th November departure :(. As for cricket and football.....well you can tell your husband that we're (England) great at cricket these days (tell him we've just retained 'The Ashes' .... he should know what that means) and we're still struggling to win anything at football, even though we invented it!

I hope you have a great cruise.

Tim.

Welcome back arpie05! I hope you had a great cruise! I'm sure you may still be unpacking, but I'm looking forward to hearing your review of the new Eastern itinerary on the Dream. Also, if you have any advice on whether to do early dining, late dining, or ATD with the new schedule, I'd love to hear it. Of course, a posting of the Fun Times would be really awesome!

Hi Tim-Shame we're going to miss you by just two little weeks. Hope you enjoy your cruise and trip to Orlando. I'll pass on the info about sports updates to the hubby. He's from Knutsford, near Manchester, so you're pretty close to my in-laws, at least by American driving standards, where petrol doesn't cost quite a whole arm and leg! Have a wonderful time!

Jennifer

Just got off the Dream. Lots of scenic landscape pics on the big screen during sea days and movies at night. Three channels have in room movies. Been on numerous carnival cruises. First time on Dream nice ship. Had a grand suite lots of room loved the tub. Room steward sucked Had better service on lower category rooms. Tipped him $20 bucks first day. Then never called us by name nor did we ever have fresh ice when returning from days on excursions. Found ice all melted. Even after asking him to please make sure we could come back at end of stops to have a cold drink still no ice. He told us when we called him to call room service. Great then sit and wait for half a hour. No thrilled and that's all we asked of him. Except for a extra robe first day and some hangers. Wish I never gave him extra tip. Steak house amazing everyone should try it. Worth the cost. My time dining had a wait usually 20 Min till seated. Food was hot and most dishes tasty. Shoes were much better then the other carnival ships I have been on. Pools over crowded but was able to grab seats being a early riser.

Would travel on the Dream again.

Meant shows were better on Dream them other carnival cruises. Not Shoes. But my shoes were stunning. Lol

lol. I had to reread that line in the first post a few times. I agree that the Dream's shows seem to be so much better than any other Carnival ship. That's one of the many things that really have made my 2 Dream sailings stand out as my best 2 cruises. Your experience with the room steward has been my common experience across Carnival. I have had only one that I felt went above & beyond, and he was on the Triumph.

Also just off the Dream W. Caribbean. I'll try (no promises) to post a longer review later, but just some general stream of consciousness comments, in no particular order:

1. FTTF -- well worth it. Embarkation was a breeze. Priority tender into Belize was a godsend. And on the few occasions I went to the service desk it was nice to walk right up.

2. Food -- MDR was eh. The taste was good, but the service and portion size was below par. Lobster on the first elegant night was only slightly larger than a couple of large shrimp. The Lido Deck dining was actually quite good for lunch. Tried the buffet, grill, pizza, tandoor and deli. Pizza was very good, as was Deli. did not try the pasta bar or mongolian grill. Steakhouse food was very good. But they completely overcooked one steak, and it took forever to have a new steak prepared. So as a result everybody else's food got cold. But they were very apologetic (not enough to knock a few bucks off the price, but still very aplogetic about it. :))

3. Room -- We were very happy with our aft balcony on Deck 7. Larger than I expected. Steward was very helpful with ice requests, etc.

4. Entertainment -- Dancing in the Streets was very good. Get Ready was energetic but just never connected with the audience. We enjoyed listening to the Blackjack Band most evenings while having a few drinks. The piano bar guy, and I can't stress this enough, CANNOT SING. I am not kidding. Just walking past him was painful. Every.Single. Night. The comedy was very good, much to my surprise -- I'm kind of a snob about the standup that I like.

5. Cozumel -- Did Mr. Sancho's pay as you go and it was all the kid's favorite day. Adults enjoyed it as well. Nothing spectacular, just a nice beach day. Not crowded, as the Dream was the only ship in port.

6. Roatan -- My son and I did diving at AKR and it was a great dive, even if I had to cut the second dive short for my own reasons. The non-divers just went to Mahogany Beach and were not impressed.

7. Belize -- Cave Tubing and Ziplining was a lot of fun. Independently booked with .com and they did a very professional job. It is a LONG day, with a lot of walking and sweating, so be prepared.

8. Costa Maya -- To everyone in our 8-person group's surprise, we all loved this port. Half of the group went to Mahahual for shopping, meandering. The other half went to the beach and got some great snorkeling in. The village was great, very friendly. The vendors were definitely out in force, but "no thanks" was all it took. Great silversmith shop, bars, etc. But Carnival needs to rethink this port for this itinerary. A shore stop between 7-2 just doesn't make any sense. Especially after the stop in Belize, where many people do some relatively high-energy activities and end up wanting to sleep in a little later the next day. Still, a great stop.

9. Miscellaneous -- FWIW, unlimited internet is available, not limited to a certain amount of minutes per day or per cruise. Also, my 14 year old son, who is 2 months away from turning 15 was able to get into Club O2 with his cousin. Just made a polite request during the registration process. No problem. Both teens really enjoyed the club -- it runs VERY late into the night. There were certainly lines, and the pool deck on sea days was packed, but it was manageable. I was always able to find someplace to sit and read a book out on deck. Hot tubs were lukewarm tubs, and always seemed to be crowded.
