*~Carnival Legend - Tell All Thread!! ~*

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! :) I'm soon to be a passenger on the Carnival Legend. I thought I would do a thread similar to some others I've seen. Please post any reviews, good bad or indifferent!

This is also for people who have already cruised on the Legend or have recently cruised and want to share things they have learned about booking, embarkation, tips and hints. Pictures are great as well!

I'd love to hear them all and hopefully this will help any other future cruisers have one central place to hear all about the ship they call:

*CARNIVAL LEGEND* ~ where legends are made.......

Welcome everyone!! Glad we're all here! I'm going to post any good/bad/indifferent information that I can find on this thread, so it will help with any questions we may have and have it all in one central place. Menu's, capers, (I think those are what tell us what goes on during the day on the cruise, someone correct me if i'm wrong.) reviews, etc.

Feel free to post! Oh, and btw

Have a great time on your cruises!

We were on the legend January 22,2005 and had a wonderful time. It is a very nice ship and the crew were nice as well. We were on the Southern Caribbean out of Ft. Lauderdale and loved the sea days. My favorite port was Barbados it is really beautiful and we booked our own swim with the turtles through Thriller and it was great! Martinique we took the ferry to the beach and it was beutiful also. St. Martin was pretty but a lot of poverty. Hope you have a wonderful trip.

We sailed on Legend In September 03 and July 04 and love her even more now then before. We had a great time on both cruises. Staff was great, food was great, ship is very easy to naviagte and well everything was wonderful. We got a second look at Carnival after we had sailed on the Fantasy class ships a few years back and went to other line still owned by Carnival but not Carnival. We had a blast and My TA told us the Legend might go to Bermuda so we told her if booking ever open for that sailing on the Legend give me a call ASAP so we can book and if she ever crosses the canal, i will be there to. The ship is one of the few new ships of Carnival that have more of a luxury touch to them and the Valor too. They have wood paneling all over with gold colors in the wood and chandliers everywhere. Kind of a Titanic feel but I like better then the glitz of Las Vegas fell which everyone asscoiates Carnival With. All of you sailing on her will have a BLAST! Happy Sailing.

P.S Any questions u might have let me know, Just email me,

Hi,

We went on the Legend in Nov. 2003 and again in March, 2004. We had a ball. The ship is really one of the prettiest we've been on. It's not nearly as gaudy/bright as many of the other Carnival ships. Instead there are lots of wood trims and earth tones. Very rich and classy looking. The cruise director was annoying and unfortunately he was on both cruises, but that was one of the few negatives (and a minor one at that). The dining room was beautiful and one of my favorite places to sit was the bar area right outside the main level of the dining room. Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Here are some links that are sure to help. I have found them thru searching and they have helped me quite a bit. It's a mixture of reviews, pictures, etc. Most of them pertain to the Legend.

I hope the links will post here.

Let me know if it helps anyone.

Here's a site that you can go to and book a tour of St Thomas for only $20. You don't have to send money now. Just Click RESERVATIONS and fill out the form. You don't have to give him all the info, just the time you want him to pick you up, name and email address. Read more here:

Guide for a packing list

(here's a tip-go to walmart and pick up a few big insulated mugs. If you are drinkers bring a PLASTIC bottle of rum in you CHECKED luggage, not your carryon. Or you can bring Vodka-mixes well with the fruit juice they have on the upper deck by the pool. You can put it in your cup in your room and then take it with you to mix with the orange juice or punch they have in the dispensors by the pool. We do it all the time. This saves a little on the bar bill.

Cruised the LEGEND last Fall from NYC. Fantastic trip to San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola. Love the Spirit-class ships having cruised on the PRIDE earlier in the year.

Agree with a previous posters evaluation of the CD. He was absolutely horrible. Overbearing, laughed at his own jokes, very juvenile. I was embarrassed for him, usually left his talks.

Found 2 of my "ole" bartendresses (from the ELATION and the PRIDE) that were in the aft Lido bar. Was absolutely astonished that they both remembered my name and called out to me (and I'm not a heavy drinker by any means). Loved that area. 270 degree view of the seas, adult pool, just steps away from food in the LIDO buffet and ice cream. Spent all of my ship time there.

I thought the ship was beautiful. Not as glitzy as a typical Carnival ship of the past. I can understand, however, why paxs ask about the constant "urn" theme. You'll understand after your cruise. Loved all the artwork and the general theme of Legends throughout time. Ali and Jacky Robinson in the Sports Bar, 7 story Colossus of Rhodes art on the atrium wall opposite the elevators. Old MGM pic of all their stars in one picture. Amazing how many are no longer with us (Mickey Rooney was a young boy) ! ! :D

Great Sports Bar. Zillions of tvs covering any event you wish. Didn't care that much for the pianist at the piano bar, but enjoyed it there. The karaoke bar (under the main showroom) was terrific and filled every night. To those who have been on the LEGEND this is where the band "sinks" to when it drops out of sight in the Main showroom. Quite unique actually when one considers the engineering problems this poses.

I liked the dining, but the service was terrible. I was put in a side (overflow) room of the main dining room, so probably had the newbie waiters. Very poor service and, incidentally, the absolute worst group of paxs I've ever encountered at dinner. Mother and daughter constantly fighting, women coming from other tables to argue politics with 2 ladies (this cruise was during one of the Presidential debates). It went on every night. Skipped dinner a couple of nights because of it. Felt sorry for the young stockbroker from NY that was on his first cruise. I kept hoping he would realize this is certainly not the "norm". :(

Glad to answer any questions, but I didn't take any excursions. Prefer to walk around and take pics. Have a few LEGEND pics posted below.

I'm going in June, so excited. Although, not too much about the CD now...oh well...I don't usually do too much with the CD's anyway. I've also found this link for pics, I didn't see it posted above...if it was...sorry! Didn't mean to step on toes. Hope everyone has a great cruise! .

We were on the same Legend cruise as pittypat in January and also last year, so obviously we loved the ship! On this last cruise, we did the Divi Little Bay beach in St. Maarten, the St Pierre trip in Martinique and the coast to coast tour in Barbados. Don't know if there's more I can add other than what's already been posted, but will be happy to answer any questions anyone has. We also have tons of pictures, just haven't figured out how to post them online yet!

We went on the Legend in 2002 for a cruise to nowhere out of NY. We took wife's grandmother from Scotland who could not describe what she was on. She was getting herself frustrated not knowing how to put into words to her friends back "home" what she saw. To her, it was indescribeable.

I, selfishly, just wanted to see a Spirit class ship. I did, and loved it. I've been on 2 others since, but to me, the Legend is the classiest, decor wise. I remember laughing reading a poster stating that when he died, he wanted to be put in one of those urns.

Well, we are returning to the Legend in 66 days, in May, to the Carribean once again out of NY.

I have a feeling I will be on her yet again in June of 2006, as it's the most convenient for an extended family getogether.
