Do you have to do the whole cruise?

Recommended Posts

Again no cruiseline can keep a passenger hostage.

If someone suffers a bereavement are they seriously going to make them stay? They cannot exactly ask for a death certificate so it would have to be on trust.

or if the person was injured, again they would not make them stay onboard.

While that may be true, just expect your onboard account to have an extra $300 per person charged to it for violating the PSVA. The US government will fine the cruise line that amount and they cruise line will pass that onto the passenger(s). I believe the cruise line can seek to have the fine removed in the event of an emergency medical situation, which may or may not be granted.

You will have to pay the fine if you get off without going to a foriegn port first.

It would be a big boost to the economy if ships were allowed to do more cruises within the US....but congress doesn't seem to care much about the economy or they would have repealed this archaic law by now.

Not sure any cruiseline could keep someone on board if they did not want to stay.

After all if you are not back in time the ship will sail anyway.

Anyone can say oops we missed the ship!

BUT they will still fine the ship and that cost will be passed on to you. SO if you can afford that charge (I read somewhere it is around $300.) you can probably just do it.
