Car Rental in Charleston

We are cruising out of Charleston and plan to come in two or three days early in order to do some sightseeing. If you rent a car at the airport does anyone know if there is a drop off place for rental cars anywhere near the port?

Thanks

Enterprise you can rent at the airport and there is an Enterprise location a couple of blocks for the passenger terminal for the Fantasy.

Check if they will let you drop at the Meeting Street location to be sure.

Skip the car rental and stay downtown. Not only will you not need a rental, but it will have the added expensive of parking.

No matter what anyone tries to tell you, staying in Mt. Pleasant or N. Charleston is not the same and you really miss a lot.

budget has rental cars at both the airport, and a mile or so from the port in downtown charleston. They will pick you up from the cruise port. We just did, and had no problem. The only thing, is that its a small rental service, if you need a big vehicle like a van, etc... definitely remind them ahead of time

Totally agree with BlueHeron. You don't need a car to see the great sights in Charleston's historic district. I would stay at one of the many hotels in the historic district. Everything is within walking distance or there is a free trolley service in town. Parking your car would be very expensive. There are many hotels, pricey and not so pricey. I love the French Quarter Inn or the Market Pavillion. Both are upper $ but you can get some good deals. There is a DoubleTree that is right in the heart of the historic district. It's not as nice as many others but it might be more economic. Food in Charleston is outstanding. Your hotel can give you tips. Enjoy your time in lovely Charleston!

The Andrew Pinckney is right behind the Doubletree (excellent hotel) and about 70% of the cost. Downtown Charleston doesn't have any bad downtown hotels.

Staying at the Days Inn this weekend for The Cooper River Bridge Run.

Hi - did you make arrangements for Budget rental car to pick you up at the port by calling a local number ? - When I called the "800" number they were not very helpful ......

We'd love to have a rental car company pick us up ....

Thanks !!
