Anyone taken this cruise... Please give me any information you think we may need to know. We are booked in concierge class. What do i need to know? What is the name of the "main" dining room? We are celebrating a big anniversary and wish to throw a party for our 8 friends joining us. What is the best dining venue on the ship? Which shore excursions are good? And whats the deal with bringing alchohol orbwine on board?

Have done this and will take the opposite itinerary from what we did before when we go next January. It was such a great cruise we can't wait to go again.

For ideas for shore excursions, it would be helpful to know what your ports will be, as there are some variations from cruise to cruise.

Have you been to your roll call? That's a great place to meet others going on your cruise.

Would also suggest that you take a good look at the ship plan on the X website -- you'll find info on the specialty dining, the MDR and so forth.

You are allowed to bring two bottles of wine (not hard liquor) per stateroom on embarkation only, not from ports, according to Celebrity policy.

you could book the private room in the SS United States...we had our CC table booked there one night and it was super!! Re shore excursions we did many CC tours...our R/C thread is still up and active...we were on the 1/16 sailing and there is a ton of information there if you want to check it out...we all loved the ship (it's our favorite) and the ports of call were awesome...especially loved seeing the penguins!! Ss United states was excellent well worth the money. The room service breakfasts in conceirage are excellent. You need to take a variety of clothes you will have hot and cold weather on your cruise. We has amazing weather around the cape quite disappointing really it was so calm but still quite cold. We did not take any of the cruises excursions arranged them all ourselves or through cruise critic. Great cruise and the Infinity will have had a refit when you cruise

Yes, we took this cruise in 2008 on the Infinity and it was absolutely WONDERFUL! It is one of our top cruises and we have cruised a lot! The cruise line had naturalists on board giving lectures about the area and we even bought one of the books authored by James Reid entitled "The Great Adventure - The Romance of South America by Ocean Liner". It contains a wealth of information about the area. As for weather, we went in January and although that was their "summer" it was cold and windy! We had long-johns and layered clothing - thank goodness! One of the highlights for us was in Puntas Arenas where we took a tour to Magdalena Island to the Natural Penguin Reserve - it was quite the experience! The port we embarked the ship from was Buenas Aires and we toured the city the day before boarding the ship - just so much - a wonderful trip! You will love it all - go and have a great time!!!

We have always been intrigued by South America' date=' Patagonia and its scenery & wildlife.

Coming from a very cold climate, we are concerned about the weather there. How was it? Cold? Windy? Did you need winter clothes?

Thanks.[/quote']

in mid January was really very mild...not that hot in Santiago and Buenos Aires (mid 70's) and not that cold when we were in the Tierra del Fuego areas...(high 50's to mid 60's) and only 1 day of rough seas (the 1st day out of Valparaiso)...but all of that is really the luck of the draw...you do need to take a variety of clothes...work the layer system! It is a wonderful cruise...in fact, I wouldn't mind doing it all again!! LuAnn
