Hello, just wondering if anyone can recommend a good hotel/b&b near Tilbury, we will be boarding a cruise on the Marco Polo from there in July and haven't been able to find a hotel nearby yet. We will be driving from Wales. Any advice welcome, or even a suggestion of a good area to look as there doesn't seem to be much accommodation in Tilbury. Thanks!

Cruise & Maritime say they have special rates at the Park Inn Thurrock. See their travelling to port page:

I usualy look within 2hrs of the port for an overnight.

Still gives plenty of time in the morning to be at port and on for lunch.

There is little point being realy close unless there is some thing to do in the morning or you can board early

Depending on the day knocking an hour or two of the trip from Wales might be a good.

This gives you just about anywhere on/near the M25 or even part way along the M4.

There are a few Devere venues close to the M25

http://www.devere.co.uk/common/room.availability?arrival_date_day=1&arrival_date_month=4&arrival_date_year=2011&x=81&y=9

No offers for July yet.

Also the holiday inn family&friends deals sometimes work out good

then you have travelodges and premier inn whic are all over the place and often have very cheap rooms, register for the deals alerts for the july deals.
