How long in Barcelona?

We stayed at the Montecarlo for several nights in June 1010. Great service and great rates. Were upgraded at check-in. Location is right across from 1898 and down the street from the market. They take Trip Advisor recommendations very seriously.

Very reasonably priced:

Last time, we stayed at the Continental...sort of a funky old hotel with small rooms and tacky furnishings...but the most perfect location...We had a Las Ramblas view balcony--incredible...

What is the free, day and night buffet like? It sounds like a wonderful deal.

In both our hotels we offer our « Free » and unique Continental Buffet, which is always open Night and Day.

In our Free Continental Buffet we offer homemade dishes, wine, beer, refreshments and hot

beverages. Not forgetting our deserts like nut chocolate, ice cream and delicious fruit.

Everything free of charge and you can bring it to your room if you wish. We

remind you that there is a microwave oven in your room.

From the description of the balcony over Las Ramblas, it sounds like you are talking about the Continental Palacete (below the Placa Catalunya) as opposed to the Continental Barcelona (above the Placa).

We have stayed at both. The Barcelona is nicer but both are certainly adequate. The 24 hour menu at the Palacete is pretty much cold food. At the Continental it is still cold, but there are more choices. And during breakfast there are actually some hot dishes.

The Palacete seemed to be more populated by backpackers when we were there (2005) but both were fine by us. I actually liked the Palacete's location better although I preferred the accommodations and food better at the Continental Barcelona.

Both had a free computer, although time is limited. I believe that our last time at the Continental Barcelona, they did have wifi in the public rooms.

If you are looking for bargain accommodations, both places are acceptable.

But don't expect posh accommodations!
