goinaway Posted April 23, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2004 Hi, I'll be on a Mediterranean cruise next month, hitting ports like Rome, Venice, Athens, Kusadasi, Barcelona, Cannes.... I was just wondering which ports I should definitely be haggling for prices for souvenirs and also which ones (if any) I shouldn't even bother trying? Thanks! Mike Andrews Posted April 23, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2004 Hi, There is plenty of haggling to be had at the Bazzar in Kusadasi with leather goods and counterfeit clothing, bags etc..
Rare Hlitner Posted April 23, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2004 As usual, I agree with Mike. "Haggling" is a time honored tradition throughout Turkey, and it can be lots of fun if you have the right attitude. My wife once spent nearly 1 1/2 hours haggling over a small 2 x 3 Turkish carpet and we had lots of fun. France and Spain are pretty much like the USA with bargaining usually limited to outdoor flea markets. In Greece, we have had some luck trying to bargain for jewelery, but as a rule the prices are fixed. Hank
