Cash vs. Debit Card

Recommended Posts

I will be onboard the Oasis soon and can't wait. I want to take cash for the casino and souvenirs while in ports. If I end up making more purchases on ship with my setsail pass/ship card, is there a way to deposit cash onboard for credit so that it goes back onto my debit card thats setup for onboard spending?

Yes, I believe you can always go to Guest Relations (I still like to call it the Pursor's Desk) and add cash to your account. They LOVE the green stuff. No fees from credit card companies that way. :)

Have a great time!

As Schmeed said, you can always use cash. In fact, you don't need to use your debit card at all, you can use all cash for your SeaPass card. Maybe others can chime in, but I have read stories about holds put on funds for several days after the cruise when people used debit cards. The hold was in addition to the amount charged for the SeaPass bill. So, even though you may pay off your SeaPass bill in full with cash, the fact that it was secured with a debit card may cause some funds in your checking account to be held for several days.
