Where are you seeing these rates for pack and go? I see the list of pack and go rates but when you go to book ,none of them have pack and go listed. The only thing close to your rate was to put 4 people in a fun saver balcony.

pack n go are only from wednesday until friday or if they sell out the capacity controlled amount of cabins. (i.e. they can pull them before friday).

there are none today you can see to book ... not until next wednesday again.

Ken as you know I went up to VP level and was told the policy is upgrades too are a case by case basis ....that is their policy.

I talked to at least 6 people.

Firefly,

I bet if they would get more money out of you if you upgraded, they probably allow that. If you would get OBC they probably say no. That's what makes it so confusing. They say it's a case by case basis. But in reality, it probably only works if they get more money.

RCL has a last minute tuesday sale they dont allow you to price match too. Im thinking with all these folks reporting they were told new bookings only, Carnival is thinking the same way?

RCL has been very strict about not allowing price matches to tuesday sale. Not even to upgrade to. New bookings only. Only sale they enforce it on.

I think Carnival doesnt want you to be able to upgrade from a inside to a balcony for only $130. .. even if its more money from you.

I booked Early Saver back in December for my wife and I, along with another cabin for our in-laws. Both cabins are large oceanview with the two-bathroom setup on the Riviera deck, and we paid $1399 pp.

I just logged on to the Carnival site, and was shocked - they're now offering Pack and Go rates of $999 pp for oceanview, or $1199 for balcony. Of course, I'm aware the room category and location is not guaranteed. Still, those are substantial savings.

Has anyone made this kind of switch before? I'm leaning strongly towards asking my TA to put in a call to Carnival and switch to balcony... would we also get $200 OBC per person? That seems like a no-brainer.

Any advice on how to make this work would be much appreciated!

NAUdebo - Have you made any progress on this? thanks, Ken

Hi Ken,

Nothing yet - and I just saw your last update. I'll be talking to my TA today and I'll go over this with her again. Thanks for the input. We did get the first price drop with the OBC from the March sale, so it's not like we missed out on everything even if this doesn't go through. Still hoping for a balcony, though!

Ken, I sent some of your comments and advice to my TA. We're still struggling with Carnival on this. Here's my TA's response:

"The form he (Ken) is making reference to is the very form I have been submitting. It is actually a "Price Protection Form" that is submitted from the Carnival website, not from the TA booking site. In fact, there is no TA form that can be submitted differently. I have to follow the same protocol ....the only difference is that I did also go to my DM (direct manager at her agency) as well as the Carnival specialist inside my agency as he made reference to. The problem that I am seeing in this process is the vocabulary, the fare codes and their restrictions that Carnival has attached to their various promos. I, too am finding that some of the res agents don't have all the facts and misinforming not just agents, but clients on what can and can't be done. This complicates the whole process of attempting to get "price matches/price protection and or upgrades". Bottom line....it's a frustrating mess!"

Thoughts?

I thought there was a separate "TA Early Saver Price Adjustment form" for TA's to submit (maybe someone can help with this?), via the Carnival WebSite; but I doubt that the correct form is the issue.

Did your TA submit the form with words in the Comments field to the effect: "I have an Early Saver Oceanview Cabin ####, Category XX; the fare for a Pack-and-Go Balcony ( Guarantee Category BL) has dropped below my Early saver Fare of $XXXX to $YYYY - I am requesting to give up my assigned OceanView Cabin for a TBA Balcony Cabin and am requesting OnBoardCredit for the fare difference."

You might ask your TA to send me the answer? Hopefully you/TA have kept screen print or printouts of the lower Fare?

You'll notice that there have been several recent threads/posts where the poster got what you're asking for, including Dogchopper in thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1393000 Post #7.
