Information Needed for Stockholm to London Trip

We will be on the Stockholm to London trip with friends this June 23 to July 11 and would like to hire cabs on our stops in Kristensand, Bergen, Harstad, Hammerfest, etc. We've checked Google for transportation/taxis, etc. but the sites come up written in the Norwegian language! I've also gone to AAA and they are doing some research.

 

It would really be appreciated if someone has taken this trip and has some information or email addresses to help us out.

I would suggest you hunt up the roll call from the cruise that left Dover last July 23rd. There is a lot of information there. I'm sorry I can't give you a direct link, it's just late and I'm tired!

 

But in many ports we found cabs waiting -- especially in ports like Kristiansand and Bergen.

 

The fact is that you don't really need a cab there. In Kristiansand, cabs were at the dock. But they also have a little "train" that takes you into the center of town. We did the little train, went through town, took a local bus to the Botanic Garden, and then took a cab back to the ship.

 

In Bergen, you can walk into town -- at least we could! You might dock further out, I don't know, but a cab wasn't necessary for us there.

 

We did have private tours set up in Harstad and Hammerfest ... and if you write to me at mkievman @ nyc.rr.com I will try to give you more details. The person who set up most of our tours was Rhonda (Rhohea who posts regularly here). If you will be in Honningsvaag, I highly recommend the Bird Safari excursion which we did privately.
