california7 Posted April 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2011 We are taking a cruise out of Miami in May. We are flying into Fort lauderdale arriving at 6:30 am on the day of the cruise. We want to stay at a hotel for a couple hours to take a nap and freshen up when we arrive as we are flying in on a red eye from California. We are trying to decide if we should stay at a hotel in Fort lauderdale and then a shuttle to Miami or take a shuttle to a Miami hotel and then a shuttle to Miami port. Which do you think would be better plan and any ideas of places to stay
JohninDC Posted April 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2011 Most of the shuttle companies will not start transporting customers to Miami until later in the morning, so I would search for a hotel near FLL to freshen up in. QLS and SAS (www.ridesas.com) are two shuttle operators often mentioned on these boards - the ride from FLL to POM takes about 40 minutes and the typical fare is $15 per person each way; they can transport you back to FLL after your cruise. Good luck! :)

At best Ramada's in South Florida are horrible. I would think the Sleep Inn.

SuMac Posted April 20, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2011 If you want economical, take the SAS shuttle from FLL to a Miami hotel as soon as you get off your flight. SAS can only pick up at FLL. http://www.ridesas.com/html/reservations.html Once you are at a hotel in Ft L, it will cost you an arm and a leg to get to Miami. Just sayin'..... Not all hotels will offer this option and some might be very expensive for a 3-4 hour stay especially since you will be arriving well before the previous nights guests have checked out causing rooms to be very limited in availability. I'm not saying you can't find a hotel that will accomodate you but it won't be easy. Good luck!
