Scrabble, cards checkers..

Hi all. Just wondering if any of you meet up with others passengers for "free-non ship sponsored" games ? Like Scrabble or cards or what ever you enjoy?? I remember seeing a review with a pic of a library with women palying cards. I love games and would welcome some game time with fellow cruisers. On deck or in the library or clubs (empty), Does the ship have these types of games for use? Thanks

the libraries generally have an assortment of games.......you used to be able to get a free deck of cards at guest services but our last cruise they were out the whole time.....you can also get a cheap deck at the casino......good cards that play well but they don't have jokers.

Every cruise we have been on has a selection of games, ussually in the library. We don't play but just about everytime we walk by there are some groups playing games and cards.

I always bring cards with me in case I run into bridge players ..you never know and I keep hoping.

I've seen small groups of people playing cards. My group is bringing cards and our pokeno game with us.

DH and I like to play "crib", and we count the old fashion way (paper and pen). We have a travelling scrabble game that we always carry with us...that way we can play on-deck, in our cabin, or if it's chilly we find a warm spot where we can watch the ocean and play.

 

Never thought of finding other people to play with...:)

Well... I love to play but no one else in my circle really does. I am hoping to find a friend or 2 to play a little. I did post this on my roll call too so maybe I will get lucky. Although, the Dream may just have so much to see and do I wont even have time to play. I do appreciate the quick responses.

DW and I play cards on every cruise, although Grandma now has an IPAD so we now play Scrabble, Monopoly and the like on the IPAD, no more blowing cards across the Lido Deck :)

Come sail with us on the Spirit's repositioning to Sydney and join us for cribbage!!! We sailed "Around the Horn" on the Splendor when she repositioned two years ago, and there was a wonderful group playing cribbage; first time on any ship we ever encountered cribbage players!!

Ooh, cribbage! I only get to play cribbage once or twice a year when my sister visits. It would be great to find someone to play with on Pride in October! My DH doesn't want to learn. :-(

Ooh, cribbage! I only get to play cribbage once or twice a year when my sister visits. It would be great to find someone to play with on Pride in October! My DH doesn't want to learn. :-(

 

The cruise director at the time on the Splendor whose first name is "Goose" arranged for a notice to be placed in the shipboard newspaper (is it The Fun Times?), and that's how the cribbage "group" came to be formed! My DH taught me to play when we first met ten years ago, and now he complains that I beat him most of the time!!!

Just curious we are not seeing this journey for sale yet? Who did you book through?

 

We are not booked yet on the Honolulu to Sydney cruise even though we're booked on the Vancouver to Honolulu cruise, but we are checking daily with Carnival in the U.S. and weekly with Carnival Australia. John Heald had on his Facebook page that the Honolulu to Sydney cruise would be available March 28th, but then he changed it. If I remember correctly, I got the impression from what he had to say that it would be available not later than April 15th. There is a Facebook page that was started by a Canadian TA that you may want to check out: Van-Hawaii-Oz 2012

Oh, what a dream cruise that would be ! :D

 

If I could convince my DH, we may have enought VAC days for the 1st leg, and since we're in Canada already, leaving from Vancouver would be wonderful.
