FoghornLeghorn Posted April 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Working on the ole Bucket List. Want to do a British Isles Cruise (England, Scotland, Ireland) and want to go over on a ship and come back on a ship. (I'm retired - no problem on the number of days) I've seen a Princess Cruise that leaves from FLL and ends in London. Then another bucket list item is the Queen Mary2. So, I'm thinking a TA from London to NY. Anyone done this or something similar? I'd love to find a cruise R/T from the U.S. that does the British Isles...but, so far I'm not finding anything. Any ideas or suggestions?? Thanks in advance for your ideas and opinions!!!
Rare Essiesmom Posted April 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Holland America voyage of the Vikings. I think Princess may do something similar once a year. Most crossings are repositionings in spring and fall, so you would have a long time between your going and coming home. EM

I've done a TA and also have done the Briitish Isles but have not done both as back to backs. There are some TA sites that have search engines that make it very easy to find who is offering cruise like this. I prefer a Trans Atlantic cruise that goes E to W because you set the clocks back on many evenings. On W to E you set the clocks forward. You could possibly take a Transatlantic cruise East as late as May, and one West as early as August, but that would leave you in Europe for at least three months. We've taken a couple of trips where we flew over, took a land tour, and followed up with a cruise back to the US, but even that takes either a very good travel agent or a lot of spreadsheet work. Taxguy77 Posted April 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 11, 2011 DD lived in England for 5 years so we have spent quite a bit of time there. I really like the ships over and back (Call me 'Hate To Fly') but allow a week or 2 to enjoy England (and Scotland, home of a wonderful beverage and a popular game.). At todays exchange rate this will require some research but could fit any budget.

FoghornLeghorn Posted April 11, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Thanks everyone for your responses!! Colkeena: I would LOVE to do that one. Problem is I'm going to be on the Disney Dream during the first part of that, or I would. I checked out the FLL to British Isles for next year, and wanted to come back on the QM2, but the website just took away the TA at the end of April for 2012.
