Refund check expired

My husband (before we were married) got one of the stimulus checks from the government - around $400 and forgot to cash it. He was told you had 60 days to cash and didn't -- so sorry! They couldn't do anything.

I used to be a bank teller. The check cannot be cashed or deposited. If the check gets past the teller because she wasnt paying attention, it will be you the depositor/casher that will end up with the returned item and fees. :eek:

Good luck with that:)...I was told no, that is why there is a void date;)

 

Whoever told you that was wrong! A debt is not relieved simply because a check expires. The check itself is voided, not the debt. :)

This just happened to me. I forgot that I had a refund check for $38 from our cruise last January. By the time I finally discovered the check, it had expired so I just thought it was too late. However, I received a letter in the mail from Carnival telling me that the check had expired and that they would like to reissue the check. I had to fill out this simple form and FAX it. I had the new check very quickly.

i am just amazed at the number of people here who have a check they "forget" to put in the bank! Not me!
