When did Carnival leave San Diego as a port.

Does anyone know why CCL left San Diego as a port city?

The Elation left last year to Mobile. The Spirit is a snowbird. Winters in San Diego, a few weeks in Hawaii, then goes to Alaska for the summer.

 

The Hawaii itin begins and ends on the west coast.

They haven't yet. There are still many cruises scheduled out of San Diego. We leave for Hawaii from there this time next year. Spirit is leaving to do it's Alaska summer run then there are the fall runs out of Los Angeles, then comes back to San Diego for the first 1/2 of 2012

South Pacific market is largely untapped, so the Spirit's going down under [AKA, to me].

 

Good chance that the Breeze or another ship will be permanently based in Europe, too.

I noticed the cruises out of SD are getting a little thin too. I know there have been complaints about the cruise terminal. I wish they would permanently station a ship in San Diego year round. We did the Elation there twice and one other, I can't remember which. It is the closest port to my home.

Spirit is to be homeported in Sydney beginning October 17, 2012. I can't answer your question because I don't know the answer, but I'm assuming the answer has something to do with money--or the lack thereof.....
