seamanfs Posted April 24, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 24, 2011 DH and I sailed the Ruby on a B2B February 27th-March 13th of this year. On March 3rd, I developed abdominal pain and vomitting. Dr. Kistler and nurses on the Ruby were very caring and provided excellent care. Unfortunately, I ended up needing to be taken off the ship the next day in Turks and Caicos and airlifted to Miami for surgery. The whole process was scary but Princess took care of all arrangements and made it as easy as possible for me and my husband. Thanks God for travel insurance and Platinum upgrade!! Please no one leave home without some type of travel insurance. We always had it in the past and this was the first time we had to use the emergency evacuation portion and it worked flawlessly. Princess On Call International called my husband every day while I was in the hospital and arranged our air tickets back to Omaha. The travel insurance company has been easy to deal with and we are awaiting their final payment within a few weeks.

We had an equally excellent experience with the medical center and the Princess Care reps last year during and after our Coral cruise.

Good to hear you're on the road to recovery and that Princess insurance worked well for you. We too take the Princess Platinum for all our trips. Rare sunluva7 Posted April 25, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Good to hear you are doing okay and that everything worked out well. I always purchase insurance but have never purchased coverage through Princess. Just wondering how a similar experience would be handled if I had purchased insurance on my own. Would the level of service by the cruise line be the same as that if I had purchased Princess coverage?
