andyc567 Posted April 25, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Hi Guy's.. We are looking at doing the Canary Islands cruise which departs from Southampton in February. We were wondering if anyone has done this and could answer a few questions ? 1) How long into the cruise does the weather start getting resonable ? 2) Is the crossing rough given that it is depest winter ? 3) Is the cruise a reasonable itinerary, did you enjoy it ? We have always wanted to go to Maderia, so it looks like a reasonable choice. Any information will be greatfully recieved.
Rare Host Sharon Posted April 25, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Whilst not having been there in Feb, I have visited the Canaries twice now and enjoyed them both times. There is plenty to see and do. I suspect you will find them warm but not hot. As for the Bay of Biscay - it takes the first day to cross and can be calm as a millpond or very rough - whatever the time of year - so hard to predict that one. BrianI Posted April 25, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2011 Not February but we have been on a cruise to the Canaries in December. The weather gets progresively warmer day by day as you head south. Expect temperatures around 22C in Feb in the Canaries. The sea can be rough or calm at any time of the year so its pot luck. Most of the time it is not too rough. LibraLass41 Posted April 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 26, 2011 You could have some bumpy days from Southampton to Madeira, and Madeira back to Southampton after all as you say its February... What ports are you going too?
the english lady Posted April 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2011 We are doing a cruise there in January, not on a pando ship though. As the Canaries are a wintersun destination we are assuming that we will have spring like weather.Did the Eastern Med in nov/dec and the weather was more than ok
