cruisenanny Posted April 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2011 We are fortunate to have vip boarding for our upcoming cruise out of nyc. I did a search but didn't find much that pertains to nyc. Any info, adivice or experiences to share?
H82seaUgo Posted April 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 26, 2011 if it hasn't changed, walk to the end of the structure in the middle that contain the bathrooms. at the opposite end, facing away, is the vip desk. once they check to see you're on the list, they will escort you all the way through, including the front of the line for the security screening. ps....we spent many a summer in barnagat. uncle had a house on bay shore (rd?) on the original lagoon, sided by the bay. nybumpkin Posted April 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 26, 2011 We've had two experiences with VIP boarding in NYC - one good, one - well, not so good. The good: Carnival Miracle, July 2009, Pier 90. We had to go through the regular security line, and then there was a separate room for VIP boarding. We arrived at the pier around 11:45 and were aboard a little after noon. No problems at all, except I messed up the online registration and DH didn't have charging privileges on his S&S card. Easily fixed at the purser's desk. The not so good: Carnival Glory, September 2010, Pier 88. We arrived early - around 10:30 - and had to wait off to the side with other VIPs and a wedding party until boarding started. They started the security check around 11. VIPs were directed to a separate security line, but there was no separate room for VIPs after that. Instead, you were directed to a "dedicated" VIP line, a zig-zag line much like regular boarding. At first we had three agents working on boarding the VIPs, but two of the agents switched to getting the wedding party on board. That left one agent for VIPs. Then the bride showed up and that last agent waited on her and disappeared - leaving no agents for VIPs. We watched the first group of VIPs board the ship. We watched people in the main boarding area board the ship - and there we were, still standing in line. We were waiting with a first-time Carnival couple that had a suite booked, and I had to tell them that this was unusual for Carnival (aside from Miracle, we've had VIP boarding on Conquest and Pride). Finally we managed to attract the attention of a supervisor, and she came over and waited on us. She seemed rather embarrassed by the whole thing. It would have been faster to go through the regular line. At any event, we were aboard by noon. However, it was the worst VIP embarkation we've done (that was our fifth). More than 1 1/2 hours - which is more than we've done in NYC without VIP boarding. Hopefully you get to sail from Pier 90. That's the main pier Carnival uses and it's set up properly for VIPs. Guest LoveMyBoxer Posted April 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2011 Sailed twice on Miracle and once on Glory. There is a separate VIP line to go through security. You then go to the VIP desk. Once you check in, you go to a private room and wait to be escorted onto the ship before everyone else. Very smooth and easy.

Thank you! We love it here in Barnegat, we are about 1 mile from the bay & about 10 minutes from LBI

We have an ocean suite & I was able to see alot of peoples videos, I think the aft suite is similar but the balcony is much much bigger!

Most likely this photo is deceiving.. Yeah the room in the video looks a bit smaller, that pic is of a junior suite or ocean suite, I think the aft suite is in the same catagory but maybe it is just configured a bit different.... I think the INCREDIBLE balcony will make up for it, and the jacuzzi tub too;) Hey btw, it looks like kerryman50 is sailing with you thursday! Rare mizLORInj Posted April 27, 2011 #24 Share Posted April 27, 2011 I think NYC has one of the best VIP boarding procedures; the VIP security screening is nice when the regular security line is very long. You then go into a small VIP check-in room and may have to wait for a few people ahead of you, and then you are escorted outside to the tunnel thingie right onto the ship. Hanna: If it's the one-room VS aft wrap you've got, the room is larger than a regular balcony cabin.
