Celebrity Aqua Class

Have any of you tried Aqua Class on Celebrity as a solo?

I want to try it, but I'm concerned about the dinner arrangements in Blu in the evening. I understand there is no set dining in Blu and they won't seat you with others. I don't necessarily mind dining alone. I do that all of the time for breakfast and lunch. But, at dinner time that can get lonely for 14 nights! Can you dine in the regular dining room for dinner instead?

Thanks!

I sailed solo on Eclipse in Aqua Class (AQ) and had a good time in Blu. Tables aren't that far apart and I was able to chat with neighbors.

If you'd like to dine with others, you could join the roll call and gather a group for the specialty restaurants. You can also switch over to the MDR and/or join CC'ers there.

If it were me on for 14 nights, I'd plan a few nights at the specialties with cc roll call and see if there are other roll call members who are sailing in AQ who would enjoy eating together a night or two. Just meet up at the entrance and ask to be seated together. Blu's food is a huge incentive for me to book AQ and as a solo, I'd much prefer to be in a restaurant that had plenty of 2 and 4 tops than the MDR that has a lot of large parties.

I was in AQ class back in September 2010 on Solstice and had a so-so

experience in Blu. It is too long of a story to post on here but lets just

say the plans I was supposed to have fell through. I only ended up dining

in Blu 3 out of 7 nights.

The tables might be close enough to chat with your neighbors but only

if those folks are friendly. I am outgoing and prefer sharing a table

with others.:) Yes, I eat out alone here at home but on cruise the

dinner experience is one of my favorite parts of the day. I did not feel

(just my opinion) Blu was condusive to the solo traveler. I prefer a 6-8

top with friendly folks. That is just me:)

I ended up having dinner twice with 2 couples from the roll call (which was nice)

and once on my own. 1 night I went to Tuscan Grille with a another gal I met on

board, one night I went to the main dining with friends who were not

permitted to dine with me in Blu and one night I ate with the same

friends in Bistro on 5. Counting my nights, I am missing one....

Oh one evening I was invited to dine at the Capt's Table.

Oh, I would not book AQ class again...mostly because the price is too

high for me(that cabin happen to go wayyyy down) so I decided to

try it. But it is usually much more $ than I care to spend.

I have to admit though, I did enjoy the breakfasts in Blu..good food

and maybe its because breakfast has a totally different feel but I

felt more welcomed. Now maybe that is just me again....but it is

what it is.

So as with everything else in life, different strokes for different

folks:)

I feel as you do, Lois. I eat alone all the time at home, but on a cruise I enjoy dining with others at dinner. I like the amenities that go along with the AQ and I like the idea of Blu for breakfast.

Is it possible to select traditional dining in the MDR for dinner and still be in an AQ cabin?

Thanks!

Hi:) I have read many postings about this over on the BB. When I ate

in the main dining room it was with 2 friends I met on board and we

went "Select"....many folks have said they alternate depending on

the menu but they would be select.

As for changing the entire cruise and going traditional? I don't know

the answer to that one and not sure the folks in customer service

would give you the correct answer or not. If you know you want

the main dining room and traditional call Celebrity and see what

they say. Or you could wait and go see the Maitr'd after you board

the ship and speak with him 1 to 1.

I just sent an e-mail to Celebrity and to my TA. Hopefully, I'll get the same answer from both!
