The US$750 million, 122,000-ton superliner Celebrity Solstice was launched less than three years ago as the first of five groundbreakingSolstice Class vessels. She immediately set a new benchmark in luxuryand a stylish new approach to cruising. Australia is the first market in theworld outside of the Caribbean and Europe to have a Solstice Class shipand Celebrity Solstice will be the biggest, newest and most luxurious cruiseship ever to be based in the region. According to Gavin Smith managingdirector, Celebrity Cruises Australia, the move signals the great strength ofthe Australasian cruise market. Celebrity Solstice will turn Australiancruising on its head, offering an unparalleled cruising experience forAustralian cruisers and introducing a modern style of cruising that theywould usually have had to travel overseas to experience, he said.Australians will already get to enjoy the return of the Celebrity Cruisesbrand in November 2011 with the deployment of the 1,800-guestCelebrity Century, which will be the highest rated superliner to be basedhere; and her subsequent replacement by the 2,850-guest CelebritySolstice in December 2012 will take the Celebrity Cruises experience toeven greater heights.Celebrity Solstice will offer a range of 12- to 18-night cruises in Australiaand New Zealand sailing from Sydney,Auckland and Fremantle — includinga circumnavigation of Australia. Celebrity Solstice brings a number offirsts to local cruising, including the Lawn Club, with one acre of freshlymanicured real grass on the upper decks; a glass-blowing studio; and 85 percent of her cabins have their own private balcony — the highest ratio of anysuperliner in the world.Celebrity Cruises offers a distinctly upmarket cruise experience whereservice and cuisine are paramount. The emphasis is on the finer things inlife — like exceptional dining in multiple restaurants; fine wines in stylishbars; and the decadent AquaSpa. The cruise line is frequently rated as thebest premium cruise line — and since its launch the Solstice Class hasreceived multiple awards and accolades the world over for a number offirsts , ranging from environmental initiatives to innovations in itsapproach to design and amenities. Not just first class in style, service and amenities, Celebrity Solstice wasbuilt with the environment in mind. She is the first ship to use solar energywith more than 200 solar panels installed. The high-glazed glass of eachSolstice Class ship s windows reduces heat transfer and the energy required for air-conditioning. all these new cruise ship/lines coming to Australia great I think.
