rez4jc Posted April 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2011 We are renewing our vows at Bottom Bay for our 25th anniversary in September. We wanted to have a small reception/party at a restaurant/bar on the beach with good food, drinks, and possibly dancing? Any suggestions?
swtygrl Posted April 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Go to the trip advisor web site. There's an old thread about Barbados Brides. You might get some ideas from that.
Aplmac Posted April 30, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2011 We are renewing our vows at Bottom Bay for our 25th anniversary in September. We wanted to have a small reception/party at a restaurant/bar on the beach with good food, drinks, and possibly dancing? ===> Ain't nuthin thar! Any suggestions? Pretty sure you'll find zero bar and restaurant on Bottom Bay beach and eco-minded Barbadians pray it stays that way for a very long time! :) The natural charm of this beach is that is hasn't had very much human commercialism, so far except for a few local guys setting up a rustic-looking(read ugly) shack or two, to sell their trinket junk. You can rent a few beach-chairs there, but there are no toilets,changing-rooms or anything infrastructural of that nature! Just want you to know so you don't get your hopes up, OK? This photo of mine shows just about the entire beach! You may draw your own conclusions regarding amenities. Oh...I forgot...there's a ragged volleyball net, as well. Alternative: The nearest hotel offering anything approaching your needs and with a similar(albeit more civilized) ambiance would be CRANE Hotel, about 2 miles away. http://www.thecrane.com/ They have an equally-gorgeous view, possibly even better... and you'd probably be far more realistic to fix your sights on that venue, seriously. ;) . rez4jc Posted April 30, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted April 30, 2011 aplmac, thank you so much for your suggestion. I think we'll have the ceremony at Bottom Bay then head over to the Crane for lunch.
Aplmac Posted May 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2011 aplmac, thank you so much for your suggestion. ===> You're welcome.I think we'll have the ceremony at Bottom Bay then head over to the Crane for lunch. Yes, I was thinking along those very lines. Renew your vows with Bottom Bay sand between your toes then everything else at Crane Hotel, 5-10 mins. away.. That would be the best of both worlds! Have fun. .
cprincess Posted June 2, 2011 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2011 rez4, Just curious about your renewing vows. Did you find someone to preform the ceremony for are you just doing it on your own? We had thought about doing something like this and would like to know your plans. Thanks!
Crez4jc Posted June 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 4, 2011 cprincess, I found a company online that does weddings and such on the island. I emailed them to see if they had a renewing of vows package, and they do. It's 640 Barbados $, so if I did my conversion right, about $315 US. This included them picking us up at the cruise ship, transportation to Bottom Bay, flowers, bridal bouquet, boutonniere, certificate, the minister, a small cake & bottle of bubbly. I paid an extra $300 for a photo/video cd, and speakers, so we could play our "song". They are helping me with looking for a small beach bar to have a small reception at with local guests and any one who wants to join us from the ship. The girl I am dealing with is: Laura and she works for Alpheus Leisure. Her email address is: emma@alpheusleisure.com We are so excited about this trip, and we have talked our best friends into joining us to stand up with us and be our witnesses. They have never cruised before, so I hope they like it! Hope this helps!

Crez4jc Posted July 20, 2011 #9 Share Posted July 20, 2011 cprincess, the quote from Alpheus is NOT in Barbados $, but the Great British Pound  I asked them in the beginning, but they kept putting a little "L" symbol next to the amount. I SHOULD have did a little more checking into that little symbol, as it's about 1.50GBP = 1.00 US$. So the ceremony cost $1500! Over double what I thought  We are still doing it, I just wanted you to know - just because it's happening on Barbados, doesn't mean they are using their currency!! cprincess Posted August 23, 2011 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2011 We found a company in St. Lucia for the 12th (our actual anniversary) that will do it for $350 (US). Just the basics for us, no pictures or music and it just the two of us. So this meets our needs great. Hope you have a wonderful time. We are really forward to ours.
