Carolyn R Posted May 4, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Where did you hear that? The Ruby Princess has a great reputation.
warnerchilcott Posted May 4, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Just back from a 7 day cruise on the Ruby. The ship was in great shape, the food was wonderful, the production shows top-notch. It was every bit as nice a ship as our previous cruises on the Crown Princess and Carribean Princess. :)
cruisequilter Posted May 4, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 4, 2011 The Ruby is a great ship. We just returned Sunday May 1 from 7 day eastern Caribbean. Review will be posted later today. Wonderful time, great ship, super service in all areas from everyone we dealt with.
poncho1965 Posted May 4, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 4, 2011 We've been on Emerald and Ruby, I can't find anything to complain about on either, except maybe our cruise wasn't long enough :-) You'll enjoy your time!

-Lew- Posted May 4, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Where did you hear that? The OP didn't hear it from me, but I can tell you that food preparation on the Ruby doesn't come close to that on the Island. We cruised the Island and the Ruby in February 2011 and can tell you that, although the menus in the MDRs were comparable, the quality of food preparation on the Island was head and shoulders above what we experienced on the Ruby. We had a wonderful time on both cruises and would cruise the Ruby again, but there's no comparison in the MDRs. Lew
6pack Posted May 4, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 4, 2011 We had a terrific Christmas cruise in 09 on the Ruby. Great ship, fantastic crew and good food. http://sixpack.smugmug.com/Vacation/2009-Christmas-Caribbean/DSC5114/754838956_o3FRP-M-1.jpg

Lew When we were on the Ruby about 2 years ago I though at the time they had the better food between the two. :D I suppose it had a lot to do with the cooking staff. It's nice, though, when they get it right... Lew

The dessert chief did a fantastic job with almost every pie although the rest of the desserts were the typical Princess desserts and nothing special. On all the other ships we're been on over the years they overcooked just about everything. Maybe this guy came off the Ruby from a few years back. ;)
