Fuel surcharge

Recommended Posts

Gerry Cahill, President of Carnival PLC, announced at the recent annual meeting of stockholders in London that Carnival had no intention of adding the fuel surcharge again but reserved the right to do so if the situation warranted...

In short... the answer is no.

At this point, I think cruise lines know what adding the fuel surcharge would do to business. They are not overtly adding it, but you would be naive to think that we're not already paying for the increase in fuel cost. Simple business really: operating cost goes up - more revenue needed. I think the fuel surcharge would be an absolute last resort. Once one cruise line makes the jump, all others will follow suit. I don't think we have to worry about it though.

The price of a barrel of oil has dropped in the last 4 days, why would they add the surcharge if they didn't do it when it was over $100 a barrel.

Its just taking a long time for the local gas stations to drop their prices....they are sure in a hurry as soon as the ppb increases, they manage to increase the pump price in less than 6 hours.

They have been reporting on our local news here in south Florida that prices should go down as much as 50 cents a gallon by June and the price has dropped over the last couple of days already so that's a good thing!

5 minutes after our govt would announce ok to drill offshore and in Alaska we will start paying less for fuel.

Since most if not all of the oil currently taken from the North Slope and transported through the pipeline to tankers that take the oil to refineries outside Alaska and the US, why do you believe that more drilling will change matters? BP did such a great job in the Gulf of Mexico are you that confident that they can avoid a similar catastrophe if allowed to do more drilling in the Arctic?

The recent drop in the price of oil over the past several days would seem to reduce the chances that imposition of a fuel surcharge is imminent.:)

If you sold a product and your supplier told you that your cost to replace the product you have for sale has gone up you raise the price. Supermarkets do it all the time.
