Wonders10 Posted May 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2011 Simple question here, folks... Hypothetically, if your cruise is 31 days away and one cancels, they will lose 50% of the total price of the cruise. So...what happens to that money? Can you use it towards future cruises or does it just disappear, never to be seen again? TIA!
PeterPan Posted May 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2011 *POOF* Gone. You lose that money.

patseacruiser Posted May 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2011 Gone unless you had travel insurance and cancelled for a covered reason.
Cruzaholic41 Posted May 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2011 All they owe you is the taxes. Otherwise, you just donated $$$ to the cruise line. If all parties of a room cancel, they also get to rebook the room and make even more profit.

Wonders10 Posted May 12, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted May 12, 2011 P-a-l-e-a-s-e......don't tell me you're thinking about cancelling! Not anymore I'm not! I had a feeling this was the policy, but I was sort of hoping it was like Disney...if you cancel within the 5 days prior to your trip, you don't lose money, they just "hold it" for you, for the next time you book. I was considering switching to the allure that leaves the next day because of my niece and sister in law situation (from the roll call), but I'd still lose my money so that is not an option either. Guess I will just have to leave them on dry land and have fun on the oasis ;)

I called twice (mainly because the first guy sounded very unsure of his answer) and both told me I would still have to pay the cancellation penalty (over $1000 for us). Oh well...
