You could take a ferry to Aegina. It is about 1 hour away and a lovely place to spend the day.

I would agree. Go to Aegina and get a taste of the islands. They are unforgettable, even for a day.

 

I haven't been there, but I have been to Poros, which is a little bit farther on the same ferry route.

 

The ferry system works very well, it's efficient and inexpensive. You just appear at the ferry docks, buy a ticket, and you're off. Here's a site which has info: http://www.aeginagreece.com/
